How to Pick an Auto Shipper

February 27, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 195

One of the hardest and sometimes most overwhelming parts about a long-distance move can be finding a way to get your cars to your new home. If you are a family with multiple cars, driving all of them to your new home yourself might not be possible, so you will have to find a reliable auto shipper that can move your cars for you, and on top of all of the other parts of the move you have to plan, this can be a lot to handle.

There are multiple options to consider when you think about finding a company that will move your car, and there are also different companies that specialize in different services. For example, some auto movers can only transport cars and trucks, while others may specialize in RVs, vans and boats as well.

In addition to these different areas of expertise, there are also different options for how you would like your car or truck to be shipped. There are open-air trailers that stack a number of cars on its trailer, and they are typically a less expensive mode of transportation, as they are convenient and efficient.

Also, there are enclosed trailers as well, which are typically used for more expensive luxury vehicles or antique cars to protect them from the elements that your car may be exposed to during the drive to your new home. Because of this extra level of protection for your vehicle, enclosed trailers tend to be more expensive.

If you are moving overseas and will require an auto shipper to transport your car internationally, there are also options for you to consider. Of course, as with any other type of move, auto shippers have certain regulations that they must follow if they are moving overseas, and thus you should inquire about these before making a decision.

In terms of what you can expect to find options-wise when shipping your car overseas, you will typically have a choice between choosing a roll-on and roll-off service and choosing a container service. These two options are similar to the open-air and enclosed trailer options for moving on land, only they involve the car being transported via a freighter ship specifically designed for moving automobiles.

These are just a few of the things you must consider when deciding whether or not to hire an auto mover to transport your vehicles to your new home, but if you do all of your homework beforehand and go into the process with as much knowledge as possible, you can make the right decision for you and your family.
