Biking Courses in Morzine

February 23, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 156

There are plenty of options for people interested in Morzine cycling; from idyllic routes along Alpine roads and picturesque villages, through to the high-adrenaline action of the 'Ten Percenter' at the bottom of Pleney Gondola. Whether you're planning a relaxing ride or a fast-paced off-road adventure, there are routes and trails around Morzine you're sure to find just to your taste - but it can take a little bit of asking around before you find the one to suit you. Here are a few sample riding areas you can try in order to get a feel for the different options.

Chatel Bike Course

A short journey away from Morzine, the Chatel Bike Course is one of the most interesting locations for Morzine cycling. The park offers a wide range of downhill and single tracks, as well as some technical trails that are sure to be a real challenge to riders. Morzine cycling at the Chatel Bike Course isn't only tracks and trails, however - the park is unique in offering an adventurous biking course which includes gaps, drops and all kinds of obstacles specifically constructed to test your skills. You might just find riding on a wooden platform as challenging as riding on a track downhill!

The Pleny

A popular choice for those visiting Morzine, cycling down from the top of The Pleny is made easier with three routes to choose from, marked blue, red and black. For those hoping to tackle different routes in a day, never fear - there's a lift waiting at the bottom to take riders back up to the top quickly. With a drop of 560 metres set over a distance of 3.25 kilometres, you could be forgiven for not wanting to trudge back up the way you came! If you want to stretch your legs and work your way up to the black run, then a good option is to opt for one of the gentler runs criss-crossing the hill to warm up first and get used to the gradient.

Heart Attack Hill

No discussion of Morzine cycling would be complete without a brief mention of Heart Attack Hill - and it's likely you'll hear the name from your fellow cyclists when you arrive! Despite the frankly intimidating moniker, cycling over Heart Attack Hill can be taken at any pace, and is suitable for riders of all skill levels. No matter your level when you arrive, there's plenty to find in Morzine to suit any cyclist.
