Stop the Procrastination

February 24, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 136

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called, 'Opportunity' and its first chapter is New Year's Day!" ~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Welcome to this year! No matter what month of the year it is right now, this is your opportunity... this is your time to shine! How many missed opportunities did you have in past years, due to days, weeks, and months of procrastination? How much time did you waste tinkering, puttering, and dawdling?

A common misconception is that procrastination is due to "laziness." Procrastination can stem from many other factors, (i.e. phobia, depression, low self-esteem, bad time management, problems with authorities, self-sabotage, bad decision-making or self-motivational issues). One thing is for sure... procrastination will take us nowhere.

If you're struggling with procrastination and want to break your futile pattern of dilly-dallying, define and break what has been holding you back. Ahead of us, lies new empty pages and chapters to fill with opportunities and accomplishments. There is always a new day and year before us. This year, let's get out of our minds the famous phrase, "another chance to get it right" and let's "just do it!" (TM)

Every successful business has implemented their own specific catch-phrase, for one good reason... motivation! A slogan can give you your own personal identity and personality for what you want your life to be about and the direction you'd like to go. Remember the company slogan, "Because I'm worth it"!? (TM) Or "Be all that you can be"? (TM) Adopting your own personal catch-phrase or company slogan this year will empower and motivate you to achieve your desired goals, aspirations, and passions. I personally like to use this company slogan for my own life, "Just do it"! (TM)

Change your pattern of pessimistic thinking and adopt a phrase that will inspire you to achieve more in the upcoming months. Find your favorite empowering slogan, quote, or catch-phrase and tape it to your bathroom mirror, car dashboard, or computer monitor so you can see it every morning and throughout the day. Surround yourself with motivating books, pictures, and people. Your dilatoriness about daily tasks are only your opportunities missed. We only have to be better at what we do, not perfect.

Stop the procrastination this year and "take it to the limit." Remember that song? You can even use a song title or lyrics to motivate you. Reach for the stars and all that lies before you. Grab a notebook and fill the blank pages with your hopes, goals, and dreams. Cut out pictures to paste in your notebook, write down life to-do tasks, and projects... "Let your fingers do the walking." (TM) Start with small attainable tasks to get you out of the procrastinating dead-end road; soon, you will see good habits form as you cross off and achieve goals. And, if you're struggling to reach your goals this year, "Reach out and touch someone"! (TM) Find someone close to you who is goal-oriented and work on your goals together by inspiring each other. "Where do you want to go today?" (TM)

Company slogans are great to use in your own personal life, simply for one reason, they're always positive and motivating!! Companies want to motivate you to buy and use their product. And, a good slogan always works! So implementing a slogan for your own private personal use can help you to concentrate on the best "product" you do use... yourself! Eventually, you will see a difference in yourself and other people will see it, too! They'll want to know what you're doing or what product you're using to inspire all these changes! And you can say, "Please don't squeeze the Charmin." (TM) They'll wonder "Maybe she's born with it" (TM) "He keeps going and going, and going!" (TM) But, all in all, you can tell them, "It's the Real Thing!" (TM) "Life's Good"! (TM)

This is your personal legacy that lies ahead more than anything else... this is "all that you will leave behind." (TM) Leave no stone unturned, take no time for granted, for there are many who have not that chance. So "Snap, Crackle, Pop"! (TM) Get your butt in gear and get those goals started! "Making tomorrow better!" (TM)
