In The Potter's House

April 17, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 136

The Bible informs us that God is the potter and we're the clay. Pottery making is one of the oldest human arts. It's been in existence before written history and archeological discovery attest to the lives of the people of that civilization. In the potter's house you may see clay of different colors, types, oven, wheel, small wooden or iron tool and a chair for the potter's rest. Only the potter knows what type of pot he or she intends to make, the type of clay needed and the amount of fire required to produce a stronger, finer pot. Just as the clay remains free in the potter's hands, we must yield our lives freely into God's hands. The heat of trials and afflictions are there to produce the vessel that will be fit for the matter's use.

God's handy-work in the lives of his chosen ones, even through fiery trials produces a pot endowed with his divine molding. Porcelain is made of clay called kaolin mixed with another mineral; it's usually white and light shows through it. Sometimes for God to take us to the place where he can use us mightily for his glory, he allows us to go through experiences mixed with trials and challenges. The finished product is often always amazing. See 1 Peter 1: 6-7.

Pots are made in the mind and imagination of the potter before it's transferred to the clay. The style and purposes are pre-designed before the eye can see it. Where you're now may not necessarily be where God created for you. His purpose for your life may not yet be realized, yet he made you complete. That's the reason you need to remain in the potter's house for remaking and retouching.

We read, "I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works and that my soul knoweth well" (Psalms 139: 14, KJV). In the potter's house we were made to satisfy his divine intent and are in continued perfecting. To the true Christian the Lord's working in our lives never ceases in order to make us conformable to his will.

You may have been spun in the potter's wheel for a long time because the Lord's desire is to bring you to the place of divine purpose. There are many things in your life that are possibly not clear or understood at the moment, but grant it, they're all in the master plan. We read, "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings: that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy" (1 Peter 4: 12-13, KJV).

For the potters hand to be effective in our lives:

• We must be obedient • We must position ourselves within the reach of the potter's hands • We must be observant and alert • We must endure the pain of being broken and pressed

If you've been broken, hurt, afflicted, wounded or even abandoned, in the potter's house there is remaking and branding. With the Lord all things are possible. He may have to crush the broken pieces of your life and put it back on the spinning wheel to make something beautiful again. Being on the wheel is never a comfortable position to be, yet after all it will produce the fruit of the spirit in us.

In the potter's house, all pots are made for a definite purpose. Don't be troubled or moved in your mind or spirit. God is working things out for your good. Maintain your position for the potter's creative hands to work out the best in you and make you the delight of many.
