Hold Yourself Accountable

April 15, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 109

There is a fairly common phrase that people utter which is: "There is simply not enough time in the day." Well, let's get honest. We all have windows during our day where we can fit what it is we want. For some, it may take more effort than most, but it is certainly possible. Life is hectic, that part is no mystery. When stress creeps in and it becomes overwhelming, and excuses abound, try repeating the affirmation, "I am worth the time". That can help place things into perspective.

Sometimes when time is limited, it is important to formulate a strategy. One suggestion would be to create a schedule at a glance. What I mean is analyze what is being done during the week, specifically by each hour of the day, so that you can see where there are open windows of time. This way, there are no excuses. A visual aid will allow you to see where you can maximize your time.

Once you have done that, the next significant step is to physically write in your schedule which hours will be utilized toward your project and/or goal. When it is in black and white, this will serve as a commitment to yourself.

After all, YOU owe it to yourself to MAKE the time.

Furthermore, it is not only about making the time, but COMMITTING yourself to those windows of opportunity. Some things do not happen over night, but it is important to be patient and earnest with yourself. Bigger goals and/or dreams often take a higher degree of effort and time, but the reward will be worth it. Small steps each day toward your goal(s) is perfectly acceptable. In fact, smaller steps may be key in achieving your end result because by accomplishing it in pieces, it is easier to confront.

Hold yourself accountable. You only sell yourself short, when you resort to excuses. Excuses inevitably express the notion that you are not important enough nor are you deserving of your desires or your goals. Only you can determine for yourself what it is that you want---no one else. Approach this with honesty, because in the end no one can live your life for you. Avoiding what you want merely because it is convenient is no way to live. Make the time to go after what you want, because you are in fact worth it. Above all else, embrace the journey!
