Find Time For You

April 14, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 136

Do you often consider how much time and energy you give to your family but never give to yourself? Do you feel you're constantly attending to the needs of others but never your own? Many mums feel their role is solely to care for their family but you cannot do this without looking after your own needs as well. Have you thought about what could happen to your family if you burn out, become unwell or even start to resent what you have?

Making time for you is essential to lifelong happiness. As well as taking care of your health and wellbeing, schedule time to make your goals a reality. If you want to embark on a new career or start a business, identify a way to make this happen. You must create a plan so your schedule can accommodate your goal, whilst balancing the needs of your family. You may have to consider the things you can remove from your schedule or delegate to others. You may have to arrange childcare and establish a support network to help you achieve your goal. Alternatively, you may wish to give up work to spend more time at home with your children. In this instance you may have to re-budget and recalculate your monthly spending allowance to accommodate this change. You will need to assess what your family really needs rather than wants so they get more time with you.

Whatever your goal, dispel any associations with guilt as this will prevent you from achievement. So many mums put their lives and needs on hold until after the children have flown the nest but then feel life has passed them by. It is okay to have your own needs and a desire to fulfil your own personal aspirations.

Asking others to support you will help as it will not only give you a network of people to call on when you need assistance with certain tasks, but it will provide a source of motivation. If others know how you are going to work towards the achievement of your goal, they will encourage you to keep going - and will be there to celebrate your success at the end!

Never think it is okay to forget about your own needs or put them on hold while you have a young family. This will lead to resentment and impact your family relationships. Get your whole family on board with your aspirations and they will support you so you can become a happy, fulfilled and confident mum!

Start your journey today - achieve confidence, balance and joy.
