The iPhone 4S - Apple's Most Cutting-Edge Smartphone To Date

April 17, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 121

Apple is known for creating the hottest-selling products the world has ever seen. In June of 2010, the Cupertino firm sold 1.7 million units of the iPhone 4 in the first three days of the smartphone's launch. This is an accomplishment no other handset has achieved. Apple's smartphone sales record would be broken by the phone's successor in October of 2011. The 4S sold over four million units in the first three days of its launch. This more than doubled the sales record of its predecessor. So why is Apple's current smartphone so successful? If you take a look at both smartphones, they look exactly the same. Let's find out.

Both successor and predecessor looks exactly the same. They both sport the same dimensions (115.2 mm in height, 58.6 mm in width, and 9.3 mm in thickness). They also sport the same 3.5 retina display sporting a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels and a pixel density of 330 ppi. However, when it comes to hardware, there is a huge difference.

Let's start with the phones' cameras. The 4S's predecessor sports a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera that can record videos in 720p. The iPhone 4S sports an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera that can record videos in 1080p. This means that pictures will be more lifelike and videos will be viewed in full high-definition.

When we compare the phones' processors, there is also a huge difference. The 4S's predecessor comes packed with a 1 GHz single-core A4 chip under the hood. Apple's current smartphone comes packed with a 1 GHz dual-core A5 chip under the bonnet. This is twice the processing power and twice the performance. This equates to enjoying more from hardcore games and high-definition movies. This also means that you can multi-task at twice the speed. You can get more things done in half the time.

Aside from hardware, the iPhone 4S also comes with more powerful software. First of all, the phone is pre-installed with iOS 5 and iCloud. iOS 5 is the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system. iCloud is the company's cloud streaming service. This service will stream all of your online content to all of your iOS-powered devices. All of these features can be enjoyed right out of the box unlike their fourth generation smartphone.

Last but not the least is Siri. Siri is 4S's voice-controlled personal assistant. Exclusive to the smartphone, she will pull up information on local establishments that you might be interested in. She will also try to answer all of your questions by pulling up the most relevant information from the internet. Lastly, she will call a number or send a text message at your command. You never have to lay a finger on the handset.

As you can see, Apple's latest smartphone comes with all the cutting-edge features the Cupertino firm has to offer. These are the reasons why the iPhone 4S is so successful.
