Sky Go Delivers A Wide Range Of Content To Android Devices Like The Samsung Galaxy S2

February 29, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 249

In the United Kingdom Sky Television is the leading provider of satellite television channels and currently boasts over 10 million subscribers. Recently we have seen a number of applications launched for the Apple iPhone that enable consumers to access content from the device. Unfortunately owners of Android handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 have not had access to such services but that is about to change with the launch of the Sky Go application for Android devices.

The new Sky Go applications gives consumers the opportunity to view content from numerous Sky TV channels directly on their mobile phone. The service is only available to owners of certain handsets to begin with but the developers are working on making the software compatible with numerous other devices. Four HTC models are currently supported including the Desire and the Desire HD and the very popular Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S are also catered for. If you own one of the compatible devices you can download the application from the Android Marketplace and after entering your subscription details you will be ready to view content. When you launch the software you are presented with a simple interface which is very similar to the version that is available for iOS devices. The top segment of the screen features a scrolling bar which highlights a selection of recommended content. Beneath this you will find a number of categories to help you find the exact channel that you wish to view.

Thanks to the excellent connectivity options offered by devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 users can normally enjoy an uninterrupted viewing experience on Sky Go by using either a WiFi or 3G connection. When you have selected video content that you wish to view the selected file is launched very quickly. An automatic bit rate is selected so to begin with the video quality may seem quite poor but this will improve once the software establishes the quality of your internet connection. A large number of Sky TV services are available on this application including all 11 movie channels and all of the Sky Sports channels that broadcast a wide range of events. At this moment in time users cannot access the large video on demand library that Sky offers but this should arrive at some point in the future with an update. If you live in a household with more than one mobile device then Sky Go can be registered with two separate handsets meaning two people can be viewing different content on different devices from the one subscription package.

Android users have been waiting for a long time to receive the Sky Go application so the launch of the software will delight owners of devices like the Samsung Galaxy S2. The application offers a simple interface with a wide selection of channels showing content ranging from blockbuster films to live sporting events.

The Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are available now.
