Devastating Situations Are a Cry Out for Healing

Others link the extreme acts to economic hardship. Still others contend that it is the incessant hate-filled rhetoric of talk shows, websites, videos and blogs and part of the free world. And yet others believe that the hatred is due to the proliferation of guns or the lack of spirituality in the world.

You might call it mental illness, imbalance, deranged thinking, paranoia, evil, or any other terms that indicate the problem of thinking that is stuck in one direction and unable to consider options.

For me -- and for many others who understand the power of a balanced brain - these extreme behaviors are because the brain is stuck; it is unable to flow freely in the manner in which it is intended to function.

Brainwave pattern after brainwave pattern has revealed to our research team that when a person's brain is stuck (we also say that it "lacks ability for self-regulation") it is unable to understand beyond the immediate moment and gesture of action. It has no ability to appreciate or evaluate the larger context.

Are there ways we can change extreme behaviors? Can people with these "stuck" patterns who perpetrate horrific acts be helped? Do you believe that 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner went on a Tucson shooting spree because he truly wanted to kill six people? Or did his stuck brain prevent him from comprehending his own action? Was he a victim of an earlier life trauma - or a series of physical and emotional traumas - that caused his brain function to go haywire?

Brainwave balancing works to help the brain regain its intended and healthy functioning. I can tell you of many clients for whom I believe our intervention has averted a tragedy. One such client was a young man - similar to Jared Lee Loughner - whose brain functioning prevented him from thinking clearly. He hurt himself. He hurt others. He tortured animals. He rambled on at times incoherently. His nobody-is-at-home asymmetrical eyes signaled to the world that this person could be "crazy." He was easily a "Jared Lee Loughner" in wait.

In a note I received from his foster mother after his brain balancing sessions she noted that he went from being isolated and adversarial to having friends and laughing a lot as well as going from the bottom 25% to the top 25% of his class.

In my mind, the act of helping this one young man was an act of averting potentially senseless tragedies.

The process of balancing one's brain is the opportunity to change brain imbalance for many people in the world. This truth tells us how incredibly important this work is for all people.
