Depression Treatment - 5 Ways to Overcome Depression

February 28, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 151

I have a question for you. Do you want to get well? If you are not ready, stop reading. This may seem harsh, but no one can make you ready to fight for your life. See, I was ready. Several months ago I took a rough downturn. I started shaking, having anxiety attacks and became severely depressed.

Allow me to tell you about my reasons for fighting. My daughter, Emma, and my son, Reese. They are my beautiful children and I adore them. Emma is intelligent, beautiful, kind, and tenderhearted. Reese is funny, loving, handsome and my hugger.

So I ask you again, are you ready?

I was recently contacted by a young girl who was worried for her mother's very life. Her mom is fighting depression and the daughter wants to help her and doesn't know how. Don't make your children go through this. I believe it may be more painful for them then for you.

I am going to open my heart to you and share what I have done over the past several months to get better. I am not done, I am improving daily.

1. Drink Water! Too simple? Our bodies are not getting what they need on a daily basis. Our very lives are dependent on this calorie free clear liquid yet we insist on filling ourselves with man made energy drinks and sugar! I want to be a little more specific about this requirement. It needs to be purified water. Water from the tap has tested positively for traces of antidepressants, cholesterol medication and pain killers. I recommend a filter (I purchased a PUR filter from amazon) on your faucet. They are very inexpensive. As for the amount, take your weight and divide it in half. For instance, if you weigh 150/2= 75. You need to drink 75 oz of water a day. If you drank 75 oz yesterday, that's great- do it every day!

2. Eat Eggs. Here's the deal- we live in a world that is dependent on starches and little protein. We need strength and energy (especially someone prone to low energy like those fighting depression). Eggs have become a staple in my diet. The quality of the protein is just as important. Cage free, organic eggs are best. These aren't kept in close quarters where disease can spread. In these conditions, farmers have to shoot the birds up with antibiotics and - guess where that ends up? In your food! Non organic eggs are often the products of birds that have been injected with hormones! No wonder so many women have hormone issues in our country! Most of our food has been injected with it! Organic, cage free is the way to go!

3. Vitamin D. Ever wonder why there is more depression in the winter? The sun, our provider of vitamin d, is hiding! I take vitamin d drops daily and they have been a huge help to me! The drops are better then pills because they get in our system quicker. Also, when we take a pill, our body will often dispose of at least half of it without receiving the benefits!

4. Cut out Gluten. Why? Many people do not realize that they may have a sensitivity to gluten, but most have digestive issues. This can often be connected back to gluten. What do digestive issues have to do with depression? Everything! See, 90-95% of seratonin is produced in the small intestine (I bet, like me, you always thought it was all in the brain!). That means, if you have an unhealthy stomach, you may have some issues with your mental health!

5. Eat whole foods daily! What do I mean by this? We have become used to reading labels on the back of packaged food to determine our nutrition intake. The foods we need to eat do not have labels. They grow on vines, trees and in the ground! We are missing out on the foods that our bodies were designed to live off of!

So I ask you again.

Are you ready to get well?
