3 Tips for Entering a Deep Meditative State

Most people believe that in order to meditate or pray one must enter a deep sleeplike trance. The method for accomplishing this is quite difficult and for some next to impossible. We have entered a breakneck speed universe these days. There is no time for anything since our lives are so busy. Three ways to making meditation or prayer more convenient and faster will follow. You will find them easy, different and effective.

Most are taught to not concentrate on anything, close your eyes and let all thoughts go. I want you to practice something I call Higher Self Active Way. I was taught this method 30 years ago by a Master who believed in active prayer. She used a form or chanting and it was very effective in helping people achieve a state that activated their Higher Self. The Higher Self has been called the Christ Consciousness part of people. It has been described in a lot of ways. That part isn't as important as learning to contact the Higher Self and allowing it to come through while you are in meditation or prayer. You can learn to do this while you are involved in many other activities. I found chanting to be too cumbersome and time consuming. Once I discovered this method to activate the Higher Self, I stopped chanting. Let me show you how it is done.

I learned to do this while I was washing dishes. You can do it while doing any safe activity. Do not attempt this while driving or flying or any activity that requires all of your mental capacities. Stare at something and allow your mind to daydream. We can all walk our dogs or groom a horse while daydreaming. I have done this while in conversations on the phone, at the golf course waiting for my turn and at the hair dresser. Now feel for the Higher Self. You will feel yourself thinking about God, the Masters, scriptures, it doesn't matter. You just feel yourself thinking words that seem unusual for you. Warmth will spread within you. You will feel strength, well-being and sometimes a message. This is the Higher Self. It is the God part of you and it is within everyone. The first few times you are connected with these feelings you are likely to become emotional. It is perfectly normal to feel this state. This is the first way to connect and it takes a few times before you feel comfortable. Once you sense this you can allow it to flow through you or you can stop it immediately by thinking an ending word. It can be any word you like.

If the Higher Self contact is successful and you want to continue, the second method comes into use for maintaining this state. You ask your Higher Self for answers to questions or ask for healing for yourself or someone else. When this conversation starts its normal to feel strange to be talking to yourself and answering. You will not have instant success with this second method unless you practice. Most people I teach report getting a few words or just a feeling about it at first. You will find the third method the most rewarding.

Once contact is made with your Higher Self and you can feel enough to have a conversation then the next method can begin. One of the main purposes of deep meditation or prayer is to achieve deep relaxation. The purpose is to allow us to let go of our troubles and to think positive for our futures. With this awake methodology, deep relaxation can be achieved by concentrating on relaxing the mind while you are in another activity. This also requires practice. It enables you to physically be wide awake with your eyes open. You can be playing the piano or engaged on the computer and feel your mind and body totally relax. The body relaxes at the very end of the exercise. How long should you be doing this? That is different for every person.

In summary, the three ways to achieve a deep meditative state are:

1. Daydream while doing regular safe activities. Expand your mind and feel for the Higher Self. The Higher Self will come forward and express itself in words, usually different than you use. Listen carefully and practice listening.

2. Learn to take the conversation with The Higher Self to the next level of active participation. Engage in asking questions or speak of healing. Once you learn to recognize the voice within, you will have this method for the rest of your life.

3. Discover a brand new way to achieve deep relaxation while participating in normal, safe activities. Ask your Higher Self for total mind and body relaxation. I must stress that all of these methods require practice and patience.
