A Successful Marriage Is Not Like Eating Watermelon With A Knife And Fork

June 24, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 171

There are many things that either come to a person naturally or they learn to adapt to situations... and through repetition, it becomes an almost natural action.

Marriage is kind of like that in that all your wishes hopes dreams and desires come to you as a natural occurrence. But, as you quite soon discover in married life, you become a little - how shall we say - picky in how you partake of certain parts of your marriage... sort of like eating watermelon with a knife and fork.

If you were to watch any kid worth his or her summer salt (that is the state of being when school is out and all rules of etiquette are abandoned for the sake of having fun)... one does not eat watermelon with a knife and fork! In order to enjoy yourself and get the full affect, you have to get yourself full into it.

To have a successful marriage - you have to get yourself full into it. I mean get your face down deep into what makes you feel good.

It is when you try eating watermelon with a knife and a fork that you miss out on the things that dribble down your chin or being able to spit the seeds at the person sitting across from you. Or how about having an impromptu burping contest! That's the whole fun part about eating ice cold watermelon on a hot summer's day.

Now you say what does this really have to do with having a successful marriage or a thriving and happy married life? Well think about it. When you let go of certain inhibitions and relax a little, you get more done and tend to enjoy yourself and your life a little better right?

Well you can have that same effect in your married life! You have a hunger for something that makes you feel good, something you really want to satisfy your innermost desire for - happiness -.

A successful marriage is not like eating watermelon with a knife and a fork. It really is more like what the kids do (what we used to do), when school is out and those lazy hazy crazy days of summer just keep rolling along. Without any or very much effort, you seem to get more out of the marriage when you take that mental summer break in your mind and remember how things used to be when you were first married.

You know, it's not that hard to do. Just become a more active participant in you your spouse's hope wants dreams and desires. Not necessarily what you often plan together (and I do hope you are doing that kind of thing anyways) but really what the other person is or is not experiencing in the relationship.

Sometimes it is a lot easier, simpler and smarter to just pick up a slice of your marriage and let the fun begin! Don't get yourself in a rut and think that you always have to do what is comfortable and right just to have a successful marriage.

I married life you will always stub your marital toe on some problem or other, whether it be money, finances or just the relationship itself. Don't be so uptight and formal about your marriage... have some fun every once in a while. Have yourself a summer break and spit some watermelon seeds at one another.

Remember... a successful marriage is not like eating watermelon with a knife and a is not that you should not, it is that you may be missing out on the good and fun parts if you!
