Businesses Turning To Temporary Agencies

April 20, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 170

Outsourcing is a dirty word to most permanent employees at a major business organization because it often means that their jobs will be turned over to temporary employees or even sent overseas. It makes perfect sense for a business to cut some of their permanent staff, but there is always a sword hanging over the heads of the permanent workers who need their job for the steady pay and insurance benefits.

When companies choose to go the outsourcing route, they have to still fill those desks that were left open by the former staff members who are now looking for jobs. The new temp employees typically don't get paid the same as the former staff, but it costs the businesses a lot less money. Sometimes businesses will look to smaller businesses to take care of their basic needs. There are a lot of basic duties being done by permanent employees that can be just as well done by a temp.

Outsourcing can also be thought of as networking. It requires the services of others and those services must be trustworthy. The references and qualifications of any business that is chosen to complete certain projects must be checked as if the individuals were being hired on as employees. It is never wise to trust anything having to do with the business to people who have not been referred by others or had their skills checked ahead of time. This can lead to disaster, as some will misrepresent themselves as experts when they are not.

Obviously outsourcing is a way for big companies to save money, even if it comes at the expense of their permanent employees. Sometimes a temporary can be more useful with basic needs of a business. They do not have to be trained, and many times the temps are being used only on a basic assignment or project and there will be no need for them after a temporary period of time.

When the project is over, the employer is under no obligation to keep the temp on, but it is a good thing to keep the temp posted on how much time the project will take so that they might be able to look for something more permanent with benefits. If the project is very in depth and requires a lot of work, but is temporary, it is a good idea for the employer to go to a temp agency for help.

People who work at companies that provide services for other businesses are typically qualified and knowledgeable in their area. They are not new to the industry and are usually more qualified to complete the project successfully than the executives of the hiring company.
