3 Steps To Success In Your Next Job Interview

April 24, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 163

Job interviews require the same level of detailed attention and preparation as any other important event. Many job seekers struggle with negative thoughts that can sabotage their success.

After all, it is common knowledge that many of us underrate ourselves and undervalue ourselves. Understanding your self-image can be transformational during the preparation of an interview.

The key is to modify and manage your self-image to build your self-esteem to gain confidence, power and achieve your goals. The best way to do this is through visualization techniques.

Professional athletes, successful businesspeople and countless celebrities have used this technique for years to prepare for an important event. Visualizing your success is a powerful technique to prepare yourself mentally for your job interview.

Here's What You Do:

First, use your imagination. You will always act, feel and perform according to what you imagine to be true about yourself and your environment. This is the basic way the mind works and a normal operating process of the human brain. So, why not imagine yourself as successful? Instead of imagining that you will do poorly in an interview, go ahead and start imagining yourself performing exactly how want to.

Second, create the vision. Your actions, feelings and behavior are a result of your mental images and beliefs. So, create new images in your mind for yourself. See yourself calm, confident and answering questions easily. See yourself smiling and getting positive reinforcement throughout the interview. Picture it exactly as you want it to be.

Finally, play back your mental "movie". This is mental practice and repetition is key. If you picture yourself acting in a certain way over and over, it is almost the same as the actual performance. That's right, mental practice is as powerful as actual practice.

Play the interview in your mind from the very beginning until the very end. See yourself confident, happy, and smiling. See yourself answering questions with confidence.

Then... see yourself getting the offer. Feel the emotion until it feels real to you. DO this daily leading up to your interview and it will become your reality.

This will allow you to picture yourself succeeding in your interview, acting and performing in the interview as you wish. Focus on the feelings you generate when you see yourself celebrating, getting the job offer.

The constant repetition of the possibilities and thinking in terms of possibilities makes the end result real to you and the appropriate emotions generated are excitement, enthusiasm and encouragement.

All for the result you do want - success in the job interview.
