Design Tips to Boost Your Brand Confidence and Overall Appeal

Your company may have a superb product and offer great service, but if you can't let people know, all that will do little good. Thus, your challenge, just like any other company, will be to catch the customers' attention, and one of the best ways to do that is to apply great design to everything related to your brand. You must not only be good... you have to be attractive.

Create a great logo. If you already have one and feel it doesn't work as it should, creating a new one could be one of the best investments you will make. To design a logo that makes an impact, think of the best known brands in the world, and look into what their logos share. When creating yours, be creative, but not too complicated; that seldom works. Create a distinct image that will stick in the memory. Think of the logos of popular brands. Not exactly intricate, are they? So everyone remembers them. Choose colours wisely. A combination of two or three will often work better than a color overflow. And remember that your logo must work in black & white too.

Create a smart, distinctive catch line. Customers have to remember your image, but you want them to remember what you do, too. The phrase doesn't have to be very long (seven words should be the maximum), and ideally it will express what your company does in a musical, memorable way. Investing a few hours, or even a few days, in choosing the right catchphrase can prove hugely profitable in the future. For instance, if you have a towing company, your catchphrase could be "We take care!" Easy and simple. Make sure to put the catchphrase next to your logo with a font that goes well with it, not too obstructive but easy to read.

Associate one or two colors with your brand. Color is one of the greatest allies of designers everywhere. Use it wisely and customers will soon associate them with your business. Sometimes the simplest ideas work best. For instance, if your business is gardening, green seems the perfect choice for it, but it really doesn't need to be such a direct relationship. Just make sure that the colors are distinctive and are featured in everything related to the company; from writing papers to packages, and of course heavily featured in ads.

Personalize and give character. Choosing a color is ok, but why not go further, and try to infuse all your materials and media with the personality of the company? If you sell clothes, it can be a good idea to have clothes-themed images, or characters wearing different clothes; on your website, memos, advertisements, etc. Talk to your designers about it, and have them create an integrated image for the company and lots of individual drawings that can be used in different product packages or website sections.
