What Grinch Stole Dr Seuss' Lorax?

April 06, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 180

Is The Missing Statuette A Sign Of The Times?

Dr. Seuss has passed on. But he left to his niece, for her garden, a wonderful, magical piece. This piece for his niece was so magical that you would have to say anyone'd want this small statue. But now it is gone. Purloined from the lawn! The niece says the piece is now gone from the lawn.

T'was a statue of Lorax, this wonderful stone, and now someone has Lorax on permanent loan. The Lorax is fun. The Lorax is groovy. But now Niece has no Lorax except in the movie. What dastardly crime! Such theft is unheard-of! What Grinch would've been so absurdly assertive?

We may never know, but a few of us wonder. What villain would trespass, the Lorax to plunder? Who'd have the audacity - the evil capacity - what blackguard would show such a rascally irascity? A birdbath could vanish, or even a gnome... but who'd snatch the Lorax from poor Niece's home?

The Cat in the Hat seems a little suspicious. He came unannounced and he juggled the dishes. He brought in Thing One and Thing Two to run wild, and if not for the fish who knows what he'd've defiled? But while he might seem like a villainous viper, the Cat in the Hat is no Seuss Lorax swiper.

And what about Sam? You know, Sam-I-Am? The guy who's a freak for his green eggs and ham? He's pushy and naggy - a nudge, to be sure - but it seems, in the end, that his motives are pure. His breakfast is verdant, however you cook it. But as for the Lorax? I doubt that Sam took it.

There's the fox in his socks. There's the red fish, the blue fish. There's Horton, but he's just a Who-hearing goofish. The Grinch, of course, has a penchant for pinching, but it's well after Christmas for him to be grinching. So who could it be? Who's into such theft? Who wants to leave everyone property-bereft?

One glance at the calendar gives us a clue: it's campaigning season, and theft's nothing new! So who doesn't want any property private? Who finds what you've worked for, and works to deprive it? The Grinch in the White House - the one who wants more tax... THAT is the Grinch who would steal the Seuss Lorax.

Now, I'm not suggesting he'd do it alone. No, he wouldn't have to: he'd send in a drone. And then, once he sees something wrong (as he feels), he can always dispatch (on your dime) Navy SEALs. It's not beyond reason to think that he did it. The Lorax would vanish and not know what hit it!

It's only a theory, no facts to support it, but if it were true, how on Earth could we thwart it? We're supposed to have laws, and a great Constitution; but today's leaders push us toward redistribution. How can we afford it, for four more long years? Next time it could be the whole lawn disappears.
