What kind of job can I choose?

Do I need a certificate to prove my knowledge of a foreign language?

Candidates who are seeking to work in another country are usually not required to possess such a certificate, but there are a couple of exceptions, usually with private institutions. If appropriate, this condition will always be specified on the job offer and physician recruiters will offer you all the guidance you need, assessing your knowledge and signing you up for a language course if necessary.

Do I have to emigrate forever or just for a short time period?

The answer to this question depends on your preference and on the country you want to choose for work. For example, British employers often offer work contracts for a period of six months, with the possibility to extend the contract if you are satisfied with the conditions provided. Other employers will also offer contracts for 2-3 months or even shorter. On the other hand, working as a physician in Spain or Portugal is only possible if you sign a contract of at least a year or several years.

What conditions do I have to meet?

Besides qualifications, experience and obtaining registration of free practice with the Ministry of Health are usually some of the conditions required before being able to work in another country. Most of the foreign employers require the candidate to know how to communicate in a language spoken in this country, particularly knowing the terms related to physiotherapy.
