Some Knowhow About Indian Horse Racing Fields

The history of horse racing fields found in India dates back to British Colonial Empire. Racing has been a way of entertainment for many centuries in India. In ancient times, kings and other dignitaries used to entertain themselves by watching horse racing. Racing between different empires was a way to show superiority of one empire over another. Horses were considered to be very good friends of human beings in the ancient times, where fast communication was only possible with horses. However, in deserts, camels were used for fast transportation in desert areas due to their ability to store water inside them.

Glory of Indian Derby

The British Colonial Empire during their two centuries rule in Indian subcontinent introduced some good quality horse racing fields in India. Some of these fields are even used till date. Among such horse racing fields built during British regime is the Mahalaxmi Race course in Mumbai and Calcutta Racecourse. These racing fields still exits and one of the most important gambling games are played in India in these race courses. The Mumbai racecourse is the home of the famous Indian Derby which dates long back to the year 1943. Since its starting days, the glory of Indian Derby has been increasing ever year.

This grand event is usually celebrated in the month of February on a Sunday. Since its start, the best jockey till date has been Mr Rashid R. Byramji, who has won the title eleven times. Following him is Mr Pesi Shroff, who won this title eight times. Many horses also made their names in this racing ground by winning this race. The stakes in the horse racing fields are ever-increasing. The gambling amount as well as the prize amount went to its highest level in 2011 when McDowell sponsored the event. Many rich and wealthy people from royal families used to take keen interest in these horse races.

But now the common people have also started to take interest in such games. The betting amount in the Indian Derby is also on the rise with common people participating in this gamble. The breed of horses that participate in the race and do well is a matter of interest to many stallion owners all over the world. The best horses are sold at a very high price to customers or people who want the breeding rights of these horses. The breeding rights of any winning horse can earn a huge price to its owner.

Though racing is a profession of many people but it is and always was the hobby of rich and wealthy royal families. Maintaining these horses is quite expensive. The special breed horses needs a lot of care. The foods that they eat needs to be high on energy level and must contain good amount of vegetable protein in them in order to keep their muscles in proper condition. The investment in this horse racing business gives good return to only those who understand their horses well and take good care of their health.
