Movies That Make You Glad You Have Homeowners Insurance

April 13, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 277

Of course, in just about every movie there is some type of a home that is shown. The movie homes can make us wish we lived in a different house, or glad we live in the house that we do and very glad that we have homeowner's insurance. Some of these movies show why it is important to have insurance because of natural disasters, and because of burglars.

"The Money Pit" starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. This is about a young couple who is looking for a place of their own and decides to buy a mansion because a distress sale. From the moment they officially take possession the house begins falling apart. The couple then works on trying to fix up the house into something livable despite every challenge they face.

When it comes to worrying about break-ins, many people are glad they have insurance that will keep them covered for any property damages or stolen items. However, if they don't then hopefully they have as good of a security system as in "Home Alone". A large family leaves behind one son, Macaulay Culkin, during the holidays, who then has to defend and protect his home from two burglars. The two unsuspecting burglars underestimate the boy and end up being beaten up and taken down by the different traps he had set through the house. The two burglars are eventually arrested and the boy's family finally makes it back but he keeps his little adventure to himself.

The movie "Twister" with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton probably made everyone check their insurance policy to see if they were covered in case there was a tornado. The film follows two storm chasers who are researching tornadoes in Oklahoma when a tornado hits. The two try to research the tornado as it progresses into a deadly twister. It manages to wreak havoc throughout the town destroying everything in sight. The couple survives the storm despite not having been in a storm cellar like the other families who survived even though their homes didn't.

Another movie that involves a destructive tornado is "The Wizard of Oz". Dorothy, Judy Garland, is a young school girl with a wild imagination who has a dog that gets her into trouble quite often, mainly with their neighbor Almira Gulch. After having an incident with Miss Gulch, Dorothy fears that she is going to kill her dog Toto, so she runs away from home. She comes across a fortune teller who convinces her to return home by saying her Aunt Em is so grief stricken she has become ill. She races back home so she can get back to her aunt and beat the tornado that is quickly approaching. She manages to make it back but can't get into the storm cellar and gets knocked unconscious in her room. During her unconscious dream she sees her home inside the tornado, but then the spinning, noise, and wind finally stops. Dorothy steps out of her black and white home to see it has fallen into a land of color and on top of a witch who wears ruby slippers.
