Clear the Clutter: Two Books to Help

February 08, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 160

For those looking for simple, easy-to-adopt advice books on clearing clutter, look no farther than Clutter Clearing Choices by Barbara Tako and Barbara Hemphill's Taming the Paper Tiger at Home. Both books are full of common sense help in getting rid of items you have been keeping for sentimental value or the fear that you'll need them some day.

As seniors reaching the season of life to downsize, Tako's book will be like a series of conversations with a friend about what really matters. And what really matters is clearing away the things that weigh you down so you can take care of yourself and the people you love.

Her book is seasonally organized to make life easier; for example, organizing papers to get set for tax preparation is a January project. and pick which mode of de-cluttering works best for them.

If you don't know what system will work for you, she offers many choices for readers to pick from. All the reader has to do is find the system that best fits their personality and style.

She reinforces that 'feel good factor' that comes from donating cast-offs and helping someone else out.

Hemphill's book is the result of a business helping people de-clutter so it, too, is based on long years of experience. Her business was based on four simple words: Clutter is Postponed Decisions®."Few of us...ever reach the point of being satisfied with their ability to get rid of clutter," she says. This is a great book to help get organized with all the paper of life, helping the reader understand what is truly important versus unimportant.

All that searching for where you put that piece of paper or ticket? Gone if you follow her organizational system.

Both books emphasize the motto "Less is more!" And neither book is intimidating, even for the clutter-queens and clutter-kings!

The author is a free lance writer and editor in Florida with specialties in senior issues, healthy living, travel and religion.
