Treating ADHD Without Using Drugs

February 27, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 197

Alternative methods of treating ADHD without using drugs have been on the rise. Many people are finding that other methods like natural remedies do work. There were many misdiagnosed cases that came to light in the media by medical experts in the field of ADHD exposing rash decisions made by family physicians.

Many people found that an allergy was causing the symptoms. Many also found that changing the diet and adding supplements worked. There are more ways than one to help someone with ADHD just as there are many alternatives that may work. I have listed the common methods of treating ADHD without using drugs; harsh drugs which can aggravate other health problems.

1. Behavior and diet has a connection. If you are eating refined carbs and processed foods most of the time you will suffer, even if you didn't have ADHD. You must give your body what it wants and deserves. Quality protein like fish, eggs, nuts along with greens and fruits.

2. Many people do not want to exercise, but exercise produces such a huge benefit in so many ways. I know you've heard it over and over again, but if you just try it for a week at your own pace and style. Most everyone can walk 30 minutes climb stairs or work out with a DVD in the comfort of their own home and time table. Many people start exercising much too hard and then lose interest. The key is to start with what suits you. Exercise is good for your muscles, your brain and your mood. It cuts the risk of health related illness and helps those that already have an illness like diabetes. In fact there is no negative to exercise.

3. Eliminate white sugar and try to use a natural substitute like Stevia for a few days to see if you notice a difference. It's even better to use raw sugar or coconut palm sugar rather than a chemical sweetener. When you use an artificial sweetener, your poor body is asking, "What is this?" It creates havoc with your whole system.

4. Eliminate artificial dyes which have been shown to cause negative symptoms in people with sensitivity to them. Gluten is included in this category. There have been many success stories by just eliminating the two top allergens; wheat and milk.

5. A good multi vitamin with extra supplements of zinc, B6 and magnesium. Many people with ADHD are low in these and Omega-3.

6. Using natural herbal remedies that include hyoscyamus, this helps with excitability and restlessness. Arsen iod can be beneficial for emotional outbursts, and verta alb calms nerves. Other calming herbal remedies are chamomile, kava kava, valerian, gingko biloba and passionflower. The good news is you don't have to go out looking for these herbs separately. There are custom formulas with the correct balance of herbs made just for treating ADHD without using drugs.

Once you start a healthy path to correcting ailments, whether they are ADHD or most anything else, you will never look back. It is very empowering to live a healthy lifestyle for now and the future.
