Ideas For an Easter Weekend Adventure With the Family

February 20, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 172

For many people, Easter is an occasion they like to celebrate with their families. It's also a great opportunity to escape somewhere for a few days, leaving all the daily routines and worries at home. This Easter, why not take a trip to Birmingham and surrounding areas where you'll find lots of opportunities for family fun days out.

Cadbury World

Families are guaranteed to have an exhausting, fun-packed day out at Birmingham's famous Cadbury World. The Easter Eggstravaganza will take place over a fortnight, gathering an array of performers from jugglers to bouncing bunnies. Let yourself be entertained, and fill up on handmade chocolate Easter eggs from the World's Biggest Cadbury Shop. Over the Easter weekend, kids will be happy to hear there'll be a massive Easter Egg hunt and competitions open to all.

Adults will appreciate the experience more than you'd expect. The aim of the attraction is to tell the story of chocolate from sourcing ingredients, to manufacturing, to branding. It's a fascinating look at what's become a modern staple food in our diets.

Thinktank is one of the UK's most modern science museums. Housed in ten themed galleries, you can explore everything from how the body works to how locomotives pull a train along. It's also home to a state of the art planetarium that'll calm down even the most active children. The museum is an excellent destination for when the weather turns cold or rainy. Family tickets are available at a discounted rate.

National Sea Life Centre

Birmingham is proud to be home to the National Sea Life Centre. The attraction is a fun adventure for all ages. Visitors can watch feeding demonstrations held throughout the day, touch a starfish and hold a crab in the interactive rock pool, as well as watch 4D films at the impressive cinema. There are more than 60 displays on show, including a million-litre underwater tropical tank with swarms of sea creatures to admire. Species to see at the centre include hammerhead sharks, seahorses, otters and rays.

If you're seeking more adventures, look into purchasing a joint Sea Life Centre and Warwick Castle ticket that'll give access to both attractions for a reduced rate.

Where to Stay

Birmingham is the UK's second largest city so offers a vast selection of affordable and comfortable accommodation. For a quiet setting, why not choose a bed and breakfast in or near the city centre, such as Central Guest House.

An alternative is to rent a family-friendly apartment for the weekend. Look up Rotunda, a company that offers serviced apartment rental.

Kids will love staying at exciting big hotels with pools and other recreational facilities. During Easter there are likely to be many families staying so somewhere like the Hilton Metropole hotel Birmingham won't disappoint as it has room for everyone.
