Is It Time For You To Consider In Floor Heating?

April 09, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 235

Heating our homes during the winter can be a complicated task. With the variations of floor coverings that are available today, that task can sometimes seem daunting. For instance, the floor in a carpeted room may feel comfortable, but when entering a room with tile or wood on it the comfort level often drops several degrees. So what can be done to make your home feel just as comfortable in one room as it is in the other? Have you considered in floor heating?

Hydronic heating is not something that is really new and untried. In fact it has been in use for a number of years. The difference in relying on your heating system to create a just right environment in every area of your home and using in floor heating to add to its comfort are like night and day.

Just imagine stepping onto the cold floor tiles in your bathroom on a below freezing winter day. That cold seems to run all through the body with bone-chilling speed. Now imagine the difference it will make to your entire day when you are able to step onto a floor that has been heated to perfection with hydronic heating. Once you have seen the difference you will not want to enter another freezing floor again.

When you think about the way in floor heating works, all you have to do is remember that warm air rises. What that means is that when you are heating the floor that heat will radiate from the radiant system underneath your floor right through to the sub-floor and into your room. Now comes the question about how to make sure that the heat performs the way it is supposed to.

When hydronic heating is placed into the floor of a home a specific amount of insulation should applied underneath it to prevent wasted energy. Since the typical areas of a home where in floor heating is used is the bathroom and kitchen where there is usually tile or wood flooring applied, that means that you want that heat to go where you need it most. By using the right type and application for the insulation you will be able to direct the heat properly without wasting your precious resources.

Insulation is a product that many of us have heard of for years, and it should never be taken lightly. With the rising cost of energy in every sector of our lives, it is important that we do everything we can to cut down on the costs involved with keeping our homes comfortable. That means using proper insulation everywhere it is needed throughout the home and that includes along with hydronic heating. Failure to do so will cost a lot more in the future than it will to apply the proper amount of insulation right from the beginning.

Regardless where you live, it is worth taking a look at in floor heating when it is time to build a new home or renovate an older one. You will love it when you are able to step onto that tile floor on a cold morning without feeling the bone-chilling effects of an icy feeling floor.
