The Various Heartburn Relief Effects

April 10, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 178

It can be quite unnerving to suffer from acid reflux due to the symptoms. It's a condition which can happen over and over again when triggered. Good thing that heartburn relief may be achieved in a natural fashion.

What causes this problem is the irritation of the nerves of the esophagus because of acid escaping the stomach. In order to deal with it, you have to dilute the acid. One way of doing this is by drinking a glass of water or two. For better neutralizing effect, add a teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water, stir and consume. Baking soda is a natural form of antacid.

Some people take a glass of milk and swear that the effects are immediately felt. Acid may also be diluted with your own saliva. Simply chew gum, preferably sugarless, to trigger the production of more saliva in your mouth.

It is said that there are also fruits effective in combating the symptoms. Whenever they're bugging you, have a serving of banana. Take it right after meals to avoid the problem form surfacing. Apple will do in case no banana is found in the kitchen.

Mucilage can coat the esophagus, soothing the irritation and lessening its vulnerability to acid. Mucilage is a gel-like substance which expands when mixed with water. A great source of it is marshmallow. Marshmallow doesn't only taste great when toasted, but it's also good for your acid reflux. Slippery elm works just as wonderfully too.

Aloe vera juice can also help in soothing an irritated esophagus. But this doesn't mean you have to break off a leaf and consume the gel within. The one you have to take is the specially prepared juice available at the grocery store. If you're a tea drinker, have chamomile or fennel. Make sure that the tea isn't too hot or cold, and remember to sip slowly.

According to certain studies, stress contributes to the occurrence of acid reflux. Especially if you have a busy day-to-day schedule, look for ways to effectively combat stress. It may be difficult to avoid getting stressed altogether, but at least try to manage it properly. Read a book, listen to music, paint, write in your journal - you have plenty of choices.

Other than dealing with the issue when it's around, try to keep it from happening. Write down everything you eat to find out the culprit behind your recurring condition. But the usual ones to avoid include tomatoes, citrus fruits, spices, greasy food and chocolate. Once you're aware of your triggers, do your best to avoid eating them. Make sure that you also limit your intake of beverages that are caffeinated, alcoholic and carbonated.

Skip having 3 large meals daily and instead go for smaller and more frequent ones. Make sure that your last meal intake was 2-3 hours ago before hitting the bed. It will help if you elevate the bed's part near the headboard by placing bricks under the legs.

As you can see, it isn't tricky to attain natural heartburn relief. Make sure to inform your doctor about your condition, especially that the symptoms are similar to a heart attack. If it's acid reflux, it still needs a treatment form recommended by a specialist to avoid complications.
