Qigong in Daily Life

Energy within our body is constantly circulating. It fills all living cells and all internal systems. This energy can stagnate due to the pressures of day to day life. Mental stress and physical challenges can block the flow of vital energy. Over time the flow of vital energy will cease to reach and fill important systems. Stressed, constricted muscles generate stiff and rushed movements that obstruct the natural, continual flow of vital energy. These rigid, abrupt motions will cause you to be sluggish reducing and then draining our vital energy. In contrast, easy rhythmic motions can be continued with superior effect over much lengthier periods of time.

There are various moments in the day while at home, traveling, at work, or even while sleeping, when you can apply the basic way of life inspired by daily Qigong exercises. They will not only help you unwind, but will also help you refresh and focus with improved strength. There are many ways you can do a modest exercise so unnoticeably that no one will know it. All you have to do is to apply Qigong postures and movements to the situations you find yourself in every day. This will open the pathways of your vital energy, making your motions more relaxed and less prone to mishap and create more harmony, and less stress in our bodies.

You can also decrease the nervousness in your body during everyday behavior by noticing to how you do things. Are your arm muscles stressed when you brush your teeth or write a letter? When using a tool do you apply a lot of pressure? When mindful of our action we can learn that with a minimum of effort we produce faultless flowing movements full of energy and entirely controlled, while full of strength.

A daily practice of Qigong can increase this consciousness and open the flow of vital energy to our whole system. By making this a daily habit it will become part of everyday life. Because of the nature of vital energy, we really end up teaching themselves about it. An instructor can act as a guide and can help you put into practice appropriately so that you may develop skill with your energy, but the real learning about vital energy comes as you experience it yourself. Don't get me wrong, a good teacher who understands the energy path and has progressed along it himself is essential.
