The Heart Chakra - Your Key to Healing

June 02, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 294

The heart chakra governs our ability to give and receive love. It also relates to our ability to show compassion, empathy and caring for others.

Since it enables us to connect deeply to others, it also has much to do with our ability to heal.

Healing requires trust and openness on the part of receiver, so unless we have an open heart when giving, it is unlikely our energy will reach its target.

If a person is uncomfortable with you, if they sense that you don't really care about them, then they will close up and become unreceptive to what you have to offer.

That is why it is always a good idea to chat to a 'client' before a session begins - even if it's just to talk about the weather!

If you create good rapport with them, if you can get them to both feel comfortable in your presence and trust you, then the necessary foundation for deep healing is in place.

Interestingly, studies have been done to see whether a common denominator could be found regarding the success - or lack of it - psychotherapists had with clients. What this research discovered was that the one key ingredient all successful practitioners seemed to have in common was a deep empathy for their clients.

While Reiki does have the ability to work independently of you and your mood, deep empathy will certainly enhance your results - just like it did for the psychotherapists - and this is only likely to occur when your heart chakra is in a healthy state.

Energetically Expanded Versus Energetically Contracted States of Being

If your heart chakra is unbalanced, you will feel closed and cut off from the world and others. As a result, it will be almost impossible to be happy.

I believe that we are happy when we are in an 'expansive' energetic state, when we feel our energy is flowing ('glowing') outwards. When we feel energetically contracted, however, then we are almost always miserable.

The irony of this, of course, is that when we are miserable we tend to contract further into ourselves - thus exacerbating our state.

What we need to do instead, however, is catch ourselves when we next feel we are energetically closing off from the world and force ourselves to open up.

This will almost always immediately improve our state of being. It will make us feel lighter, happier and more buoyant.

Energetically contracting is like pulling prison bars tight around us. Sure, they may protect us from some of the 'evil' out there, but they are also going to keep us trapped.

Not a good idea.

The Heart Chakra 'Bridge'

The heart chakra is at the centre of the seven chakras. As a result, it serves a bridge from the bottom three to the top three chakras, and vice-versa.

When the heart chakra is blocked, we will therefore feel disconnected from the various parts of ourselves. When it is healthy, energy will flow freely from the more physical aspects of ourselves to the more 'spiritual'.
