Energetic Patternings for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

January 25, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 170

This article is about some of the energetic patterning that can be part of the condition chronic fatigue syndrome. In my opinion, this term actually covers a lot of different conditions that have a lot of different symptoms and causes (although debilitating fatigue is always present).

This is the first article in a series which will examine some of the common energetic causes of this illness.

I will begin with what I see as a common cause of this condition: and that is not being energetically present in the body. If it isn't immediately clear to you what I mean by this, then think of someone who we call "head in the clouds." Typically, this type of person is very creative, often artistic, but somehow not always "present" in the world. And from an energetic point of view, this can be literally true: they are not fully inhabiting their bodies.

We all know of people who seem to be very "grounded." They are calm, practical, stable - and it can often feel calming or even healing to be around them. This is because they have a lot of warm, balancing earth energy inside them - life cannot "topple" them. So, I am talking about the opposite of this.

For it is true that earth energy can sustain us and nourish us. Without it, we may feel unstable or as if we don't really want to "be" here on this earth. Often, for people with this energetic patterning, there is some reason they don't feel "safe" on the earth and prefer to be up there day dreaming with the angels! They feel safer up there than inhabiting their own bodies. Of course, the irony is that when we become ill with an illness like chronic fatigue syndrome, we really need that vital, warm, nourishing earth energy to sustain us.

For my own journey with chronic fatigue syndrome, this energetic patterning was very strong. At the School of Energy healing, the first year of my training was very much about grounding. Obviously, I need to be grounded when I am giving healings, or I would be "knocked over" by clients' energy. So, we were given various grounding chi kung practices - and I remember practising forty or fifty minutes every single day. I could really feel the earth energy coming back into my body, and making me stronger and more resilient. In terms of working with grounding with my clients, I work to strengthen the base chakra, and also recomend people to spend time outside, connecting with the earth and nature.

Actually, I have been known to take off my shoes and socks and do barefoot chi kung in my garden, or up on a hill above where I live. I sometimes recomend this to clients, knowing it is only the brave who will take this practice up in winter in the North of England!

Another part of this overall energetic patterning is a block at the throat chakra. I remember my teacher telling me that it felt as through the block in my throat was keeping a lot of energy stuck in my head, and unable to come down into the rest of my body. No wonder I felt destabilised and had what I call "head fog." There literally was too much energy up in my head - no doubt compounded by the fact that I had been doing an academic degree when I became ill, and had been an accountant for years.

I see this also in clients who come to me with chronic fatigue syndrome. Working to release stuck energy at the throat chakra can heal this. This is typically some kind of inner child work - where the client is given the chance to express themselves in a way they couldn't as a child. Or it could be a past life healing, where insight is gained into why there was an inability to express themselves in a previous life which has carried through into this life. Or it could be a sound healing, where there is a chance to release the old, stuck emotions through making a sound, or hearing me as the healer making the sound of the emotions that need to be released.

So, that is the first of the energetic tendencies to do with chronic fatigue syndrome that I would like to write about. I will write about further energetic patternings in another article.
