Time To Come Clean

April 12, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 152

Saving on your bills is a main priority in today's money driven world. Many people don't even know where to start, drowning in credit card bills, car- and life insurance costs, ever rising food and commodity prices and all other sorts of expenses. While exchanging your car for a bike, and big brands for cheaper (yet identical, albeit being in different packaging) alternatives may help save some bucks here and there, the most expensive part of our lifestyles remains the high cost of electricity.

On average, 28% of a working person's income goes towards paying for the provision of electricity in his or her household. This is because the vast majority of people choose to take the seemingly more easy way of simply purchasing energy off the grid, instead of going that extra mile and installing some sort of device capable of capturing and transforming the force of nature into clean and utterly cost effective electricity, which can be used to cover the leeching of the television, PC, microwave, second television and whatever else is nibbling away on the paychecks. One such device is a wind turbine.

Alternative solutions need not be spacious or expensive, as there are a great many solutions out on the market. Solar panel installations, as well as investing in a backyard wind turbine tower, are the two most common implementations to the average suburban household. Especially wind energy is on the rise, due to constantly evolving technology in the field and more powerful wind patterns. Typically, a tower height of about 30-50' is recommended for optimal exposure to the wind. Tilt Towers are ideal platforms for the turbine and generator pack needed to produce electricity, and can reach up to 50', marking a great starting point for the road down to energy independence.

Many states even offer tax credits and incentives for the installation of wind turbine technology, as excess energy produced by the generators can be put back into the electricity grid, to cover for more consumers. The state of California, for instance, may cover nearly 60% of the costs for installing certain wind towers and equipment. The prospect of free energy and minimal starting costs make the expanding wind energy branch ever more appealing.

A plethora of DIY material is readily available, too. Many people decide to build their backyard wind towers themselves, and with the help of some friends and plenty of raw muscle, manage to fabricate and erect a fully functional monument to green energy. One, maybe two weekends of preparations and work are usually sufficient for the completion of a project of these proportions.

If you are ready to take a step away from the mainstream, and leave behind your dependence on big energy providers, while using nothing but the power of nature, the time is now to put on your working clothes, and build something magnificent.
