3 Golf Practice Drills To Improve Your Game Fast

April 14, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 189

All golfers want to improve their golf games, and fast! Of course, it's not enough to just warm up before a round. One must make a conscious effort to practice, and to practice with purpose. Here are 3 golf practice drills that can dramatically improve your golf game fast.

#1 - Around the Horn Putting Drill - Choose a hole on the practice putting green at a local course. Take 4 balls and put them at 12 o'clock, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, all at 3 feet from the hole. Do the same at 5 feet from the hole. Then the same at 8 feet from the hole.

Try putting all of these balls in the hole. If you don't make one, you must start over. This is such a mental challenge, as well as a physical one. Firstly, you have to be able to block out all the people staring at you! Secondly, you have to control your emotions when you get to the end of the process and the pressure mounts for you to make the putt! This is such an incredible way to improve your scores, you will be amazed.

#2 - Random Target Drill - Anyone can stand up on the driving range and hit the wedge, then the 8 iron, then the 4 iron, then the driver for a half hour. However, a more productive way to practice on the range is to choose random targets at different distances and practice choosing the club, and hitting to that new target each and every new ball.

This is more like it is on the course, so you will get in that mind set of being on the course, on the range! This will dramatically improve your concentration on each and every shot, and will translate into better shots on the golf course.

#3 - Chip To A Towel - In chipping, it is vitally important to chip the ball the correct distance onto the green and allow for the right amount of roll-out. A great way to practice where exactly to land the ball on the green is to lay down your towel on the green where you want to land the ball.

You don't want to necessarily hit the towel as it kills the bounce. Instead, try bouncing the chip right in front of the towel and having it bounce OVER the towel to the hole. You'll really hone your chip trajectory and quality with this drill.

There are 3 simple golf practice drills to try next time you are at the golf course to really improve your game fast.
