Simple Yet Effective Ways on Setting and Achieving Goals

April 15, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 140

Having difficulty on setting and achieving goals in life? You think you have planned so well but then everything goes wrong at the end? Time is running and although you're always doing your best and putting lots of effort in, you're always going back to the beginning, never accomplishing anything. This can be frustrating but you can always do something about this.

Here are some tips for setting and achieving goals that will help you realize more triumphs and successes in your life.

  1. Have A Firm Desire
  2. No plan will work out if you're not sure if what you're doing is what you really want. It's all about your desire. Without it, you won't have enough motivation and determination to go out and accomplish it. Setting goals and achieving them starts by focusing on what you-not your family, not your employers-want to achieve.
  3. Make your Goals SMART
  4. SMART is a mnemonic on goal setting that means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time bound. Taking all these aspects in consideration when setting goals will significantly increase your chances of success. For example, instead of the goal "I want to be a nurse", you need to say "I want to graduate on my nursing degree this year" or "I want to pass the qualifying board exam for registered nurses this year."
  5. Prioritize your Goals
  6. After thinking of all the things you want to achieve in the future, you may find that you end up with a list as long as your arm. If this is the case, then you must prioritize which of your important goals you're going to focus on in the immediate future and work back from there. It's so important not to tackle several different goals at the same time. If you do that, you'll find that the deadlines for each your goals are nearing, and you're still some way short from accomplishing even one of them.
  7. Write Them Down
  8. A to-do list is a very powerful tool. It may be something written on a piece of paper but having to see and read the things you want to achieve can give you more focus, drive and determination. When you've written all your goals down, you're not just looking at some meaningless notes and words; you are looking into your future.
  9. Be Inspired
  10. Make yourself inspired so that you'll have more strength on achieving your goals. Reading some setting and achieving goals quotes will help you keep on track. Looking up to someone in the field you're working in who you consider as a great role model is also helpful.

You may dream of what should happen in the future, what you should possess, and what or who you should become. But you should always remember that it doesn't stop there. You should start to act on those dreams.

Setting and achieving goals comprises of many elements, namely careful planning, patience, courage, determination; and not forgetting that 'tiny bit' of luck. When all are present your goals will be realized.

Goal setting is the first step to achievement. It provides a road map of where you want to go in life. It gives you a sense of purpose and keeps you focused and motivated to reach your true life potential. Discover the formula to setting and achieving goals so your lifelong desires can finally be realized.
