How To Achieve Your Goals (Part 4)

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 136

We have now reached the last two steps in achieving your goals. To recap, you have written your goal down, developed a plan and have begun executing that plan. Now is the time to evaluate and reassess.

You need to evaluate your progress towards your goal for two reasons. One, you have to determine if your plan is being successful. Are the steps you have outlined and the process in which to complete them accurate? Are you stalled at a particular step? In your execution phase, there is a follow-up procedure. The follow-up procedure ensures that what you want to do is being done. The evaluation of your progress goes further because you need to identify what is and what is not working. Be critical in your evaluation because if changes need to be made, you need to make them.

Second, evaluating your progress will lead you to the next phase which is re-assessment. If you have found from your evaluation that parts of your plan need to be revised, you have now begun your re-assessment. Reassess those parts that are not giving you the desired result. Make changes to your plan because remember, your purpose is to achieve your written goal. Just because the plan you have formulated might not be working does not mean you have failed. On the contrary, you are even closer to achieving your goal. Instead of continuing down a path that has no end, you have made the proper adjustments to put you back on track. You have found what will not work and now you begin to take a different approach. Reassessing enables you to utilize the knowledge you have gained in following the plan you developed. You are wiser, smarter and more focused.

Following these steps (write, plan, execute, evaluate and reassess) will put you on the right path to achieving your goals. The steps alone will not take you there but merged with your desire and persistence, you will achieve your goal.
