Future Human Hibernation - What Kinds of Benefits Would There Be to Humanity?

February 15, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 99

With the ever forward marching reality of modern day science, I doubt many people would be surprised to find that within the next 10-20 years our researchers unlooked the clues to safely hibernating humans. In fact, it seems more likely than not if you ask me. But even if you are not the least bit curious on this topic, perhaps we might discuss it for a few moments?

You see, the other day a college student doing some research asked me a rather simple question on the topic of hibernating humans in the future, namely; "What do you think the benefits of human hibernation could be?" Okay so, let's discuss this for a moment shall we?

Are there benefits to human hibernation? Oh my gosh, yes, and I have listed some of the applications below:

Human Long Term Space FlightNatural Disasters and First RespondersHibernating those with Terminal DiseasesMilitary Uses - Hibernating Captured SoldiersWarfighting - Putting the Enemy Into Long Term Sleep

Those of course are just a few of the applications for such things, and consider if you will that soon, humans will crack the challenge of aging, and death from old age. As we approach the dawn of these soon to be discoveries, those who parish while waiting will be a great loss for human knowledge and history, keeping those people alive is very important, with them is the knowledge or past history, and wisdom, which can help in the process of preventing human conflict, and giving a better understanding to the life experience.

Preserving that link between yesterday and today for tomorrow could stave off political impasse, and prevent wars too. One obvious application would be for those with terminal diseases - they can be hibernated which I am sure you've considered already. That would be wonderful wouldn't it?

Consider also the concept of the "Seed Vault" in case of global catastrophe, well, how about a human vault in case of the same? Enough people with enough knowledge about enough things to set it all back up again and save the species? Well, humans have come a long way, and it would be a shame to cut it short, and as Steven Hawking reminds us, putting all of our eggs in one basket is akin to playing Russian Roulette with the species future right?

Indeed, I certainly hope you will please consider all this, as it is a reality that will most likely come about in your lifetime, thus, we should be thinking here.
