Kicking Off a Soccer Team Fundraiser

March 30, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 177

When attempting to sell any product, even for the purpose of fundraising, it is important to devise a marketing plan.

In this case, we need to promote logo printed sandals.

Step one is to assure your prospective buyer that these sandals are of a high quality that will last them for years. Their small investment in this form of foot protection will not only benefit them, but will help support a wonderful community activity like your soccer team and league. The fact that these sandals will be personalized with a logo will always remind them of their generosity to the cause.

Just like in the sport of soccer, fundraising is all about teamwork.

You should select one or more captains to head up particular phases. Then assign team members to report back to him or her on a regular basis. Organization of efforts to avoid needless duplication will help you to realize your goal in a timely fashion.

Setting goals is essential in any fundraising effort. The primary financial goal may have already been set for you, as in, "We need this much money!" However, you will also want to set goals or timelines as to when each phase of the campaign should be completed and at what percentage you should be against the ultimate financial target.

While you want the effort to be aggressive by nature, you want these goals and timelines to be realistic as well. Be sure to inspire the team to reach each one as it comes and enjoy the feeling of satisfaction that comes along with it.

Following are some soccer fundraising ideas.

There usually will be a door to door effort within the area where your team resides. Remember to smile during all face to face contacts and don't forget a "Thank You" at the end of all conversations whether you secured the sale or not.

This should be supplemented with a phone, or in this day and age, text campaign to all friends and family members. Don't forget good, old, Uncle Al in Nebraska either.

Direct sales may be accomplished by setting up a booth near a school or within a shopping mall. However, always be sure you have any necessary approvals or permits prior to undertaking this type of endeavor.

You may want to look into the possibility of a local graphic artist willing to donate to your cause by creating a printed brochure to be handed out in public places, promoting the product with information about the sandal and how to make the purchase. If no professionals are willing, it is very possible someone within your group can come up with something acceptable on their home computer. If this fails, don't forget the good old fashioned poster to be hung on school walls and shop keepers windows all around town.

Speaking of computers, you will want use social media via the internet.

This should be prefaced with a warning to always protect identities and have proper virus protection when any interaction between websites will be taking place.

Publish a Facebook page specific to the team and logo sandal you are attempting to sell. Include all pertinent data, including obviously, contact info and encourage your group to become fans of this page and / or "like" it as well. This page should include a mission statement about the soccer team's purpose. It should also display photos or even videos of the team and the sandal for sale.

Set up a Twitter account with a unique "hashtag" and tweet away message after message of any developments with the soccer community and of course the sale of the sandals. A mass email campaign will go a long way in drawing attention too.

So with that, I leave you with the daunting task ahead. Be positive!

You can do this. And, oh yes, Thank You (with a smile).
