The Pains of the Feet

June 27, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 187

One of the most complex parts of the human body is the human foot. It has a total of twenty-eight bones that is connected by different joints, tendons, ligaments and nerves. The feet carry a person's entire weight and are considered to be one of the most used parts of the body, so it is understandable that the foot is vulnerable to different pains, stresses and strains.

Different problems and conditions can cause foot pains and this can develop into extreme pain that lasts for days or months. In some cases, foot pains can recur every now and then. Many people who experience foot pain are left unable to move and function with their daily activities. The most common areas where foot pains occur are at the balls of the feet, Achilles tendon injuries and the plantar fasciitis.

Different Areas of Foot Pain

The balls of the feet are located just after the toes at the bottom of the foot. This area is often strained and the pains felt are usually caused by joint or nerve damage in these certain area.

The Achilles tendon, which is located at the back of the feet, is vulnerable to ruptures and inflammation. It is the largest tendon of the body and is often overused so Achilles tendon injuries are highly common for athletes, and especially athletes that do a lot of running. The pain starts mildly behind the ankle and this worsens each time it happens again.

Pain in the plantar fasciitis is distinguished by extreme pain from the heel extending to the soles of the feet especially experienced when one stands up after being at rest. This condition results from excessive use of the sole's surface of the plantar which causes and injury. The injury arises from the swelling of the fascia or the tissue that connect the heels to the toes. This kind of foot pain commonly affects women, overweight people, people with high arches, people with flat feet and those who need a lot of standing and walking in their jobs.

Foot Pain Management

Foot pain and other conditions can be relieved and managed by consulting a medical practitioner. An experienced medical professional can help you in managing the pain by discovering what causes it in the first place. Upon diagnosis, your doctor will design a treatment plan which may include soft tissue massage, specific stretches and exercise routines which will vary according to your health conditions and capabilities.

Furthermore, your doctor might be able to see other complications and ailments that are connected with your foot pains. An ongoing pain on your foot should also be checked soon because the longer you ignore the pain and condition; the possibility of more expensive and longer treatment is greater.
