Pay As You Go Fax

November 18, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 130

Many people that are interested in using internet fax are also wondering if there is a pay as you go fax option out there. Most online fax services charge a monthly rate for their services. With that monthly rate you get a fax number and a certain number of incoming and outgoing faxes. Usually this is a pretty good deal if you use all the faxes that you are allotted. The problem is that many people won't use all their allotted faxes, and some won't even come close. That makes the price per fax actually pretty expensive relatively speaking. If you aren't doing a lot of faxing, but would like internet fax to be an option for you, then you would probably be interested in some sort of pay as you go fax option.

In fact, there are a lot of people in the same boat. With so many people wanting a pay as you go fax option, you would think that more companies would be offering it, but they are not. It is actually very difficult to find this type of service. Companies are probably thinking that if they don't offer this then people will just have to sign up with their regular monthly service and they are going to get more money out of them. While that may be true for some people, I don't think that is the case for most. Most just go without, so the fax company is simply losing out on that extra money. There are a lot of people that are not paying the online fax service at all, because they won't effectively utilize the monthly service who would pay the online fax service a little, for a pay as you go service once in a while.

The few companies that do offer a pay as you go type service do have some drawbacks. Some offer a true pay as you go service, but don't offer you a fax number. Some will give you a fax number, but then make you pay a smaller than normal monthly fee and then still charge you per fax. Another disadvantage of pay as you go fax is that often the charge for sending a fax is relatively expensive. For example; if you were to sign up with RingCentral, you could get a monthly plan of $8.89 and you get 700 faxes. That works out to be less than 2 cents per fax. In contrast to that, if you were to sign up with PayPerFax, a pay as you go fax service, you wouldn't have a monthly fee, but you would be paying $0.75 for your fax. Compared to the 2 cents per fax with RingCentral that is outrageous! But, if you're not going to use all 700 faxes you get with RingCentral, let's say maybe you are only going to send 3 or 4 faxes per month, then PayPerFax would actually be less money out of your pocket per month.

There are a few pay per fax plans out there, but you're probably going to have to crunch some number depending on how much you expect to use the service to see if it would be a cheaper way to go for you over using a monthly service.
