Now I Know Why Fathers Work So Hard

March 09, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 167

Why are children so great to have around? I have two little children, a boy and a girl. Before I got married, I used to wonder why people go through so much challenges because of their children. It made no sense to me that a father will go hungry just to provide food for his family?

When did I realise the importance of a child? It was not until I had my own children that I really knew why. It is not about the morality of doing your duty as a father. It is about something else.

My little boy has a very delicate body system. If the temperature of the room he is sleeping in drops or rises above a particular temperature level, he would start to cough uncontrollably.

My boy has also refused to sleep in his bed but would always climb into mine any time he is feeling sleepy. This has made him my roommate.

Now, when he starts to cough, I have to stay awake to cuddle him back to sleep. I will also have to try to figure out what is causing the cough. I have to figure out if he is feeling hot or cold.

I will start by removing his shirt, then his pants. If the cough persists, I will replace them and increase the speed of the fan in the room to make the room cooler. I will keep making these adjustments until I find the right setting under which he can sleep without coughing. It is only after achieving this that I can go to bed.

He may start coughing around one o'clock in the morning and not stop for the next three hours. When he finally goes back to sleep around three o'clock in the morning, I too will fall asleep. I must though get up again around five o'clock to start preparing for day.

This has been going on for more than four months. But a miracle always happens in the morning when I drop him off at school. He will turn to me with the biggest smile his face can contain and tell me goodbye.

In the evening when I come to pick him up, I will get another heartwarming experience. Once he knows that I am around, he would stop whatever he is doing, run into my arms and give me huge hug.

My little boy will then look into my eyes with his eyes sparkling and call me Daddy!

No one can describe the feeling in a man's heart to have that kind of love shown to him.

What is my son trying to tell me? My little boy is just trying to tell me that I am the best daddy in the whole world. I think his smile and the adoring look on his face is worth the sleepless nights he has been giving me.

If you are a father, try to see the love your child is showing you for the things you do for him or her. If you take time to start noticing what your child is showing you, I promise you that any sacrifice you make on his or her behalf will seem so trivial to you.

I teach business principles based on the steps Jesus used to create a mega empire called Christianity.

I also teach men how to become better fathers and husbands.
