Duck Behavior - Know More And Struggle Less When Raising Ducks

It is always good to learn that how to raise ducks, but do you know that how they behave? It is quite interesting to know the duck behavior, as they possess very unusual and unique personalities. First of all, forget all the past assumptions regarding them such as ducks can only waddle and can't run, or they make lots of noise. Do you know that the ducks communicate with their breeders too? Their quack can be annoying for the other people, but their breeders enjoy it thoroughly, as the ducks talk to them. Remember that ducks are the active creatures and love to move freely all time long. They will remain active till the provision of their basic needs such as food, shelter and lots of water. Ask their breeders to let you walk among the ducks for knowing the duck behavior closely, so that you can touch them. Ducks are quite shy and fearful, don't try to jump into their gatherings; Otherwise, they may quack loud.

Another great thing which most people don't know about duck behavior is that, some of them quack, while others don't. How? Let me tell you that female ducks quack and the males don't. Isn't it interesting to know? You can also differentiate their genders on the basis of this fact. Watch them while bathing, swimming, running and sleeping, you will be amazed to know that how nocturnal they are. They stay awake at night and sleep in the bright day. They usually love to spend time in smaller flocks, instead of living isolated.

Let's explore some duck behavior regarding the nesting. You will find that they store their eggs till they have reached a certain quantity, and then come towards the process of incubation. Another great thing, which you can discover is that, they also hide their eggs and buried them under the pine needles, dirt, grass or in feathers even. They behave cleverly while choosing the hiding places and selecting the spots which are very difficult to discover by the humans.

Watching the ducks while bathing can be quite delightful, as they splash the water joyfully. You can also watch them during mating as well, that's how they behave before and after the mating sessions. Watch how they preen, and you will find that water droplets slip from their feathers as they have worn something water proved. Duck behavior can also be determined by learning that what they like to eat, such as Cabbage, Lettuce, corns and fresh unearthed worms are their favorite meals.
