Is Becoming an Eco-Entrepreneur a Betrayal of Free Market Capitalism? Yes It Is, Let Me Explain

April 01, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 149

Over the years, I've been amazed at how many entrepreneurs come to our think tank with business plans for nifty new innovative and ecologically sound businesses. You see, since the government is throwing around money, many entrepreneurs, being opportunists, are looking for ways to collect that money. Therefore they are coming up with schemes with a green motif, and compelling business plans to match. Still, I have a problem with all this, and I'd like to explain why am disturbed by what is going on, and what I see out there in the real world.

Many of these business plans I read are not really viable, they are just looking for that easy money which is flowing into alternative energy, and anything that is eco-friendly, environmentally sound, or considered green. Further, it seems as if our regulatory bodies are busy over regulating anything they feel that isn't green, or anything which isn't perceived not to be 100% eco-friendly (from their limited perspective). Then they charge fees, fines, and increased taxes to those other sectors of the industry, and then take that money, add some more to it, and funnel it to environmentally friendly business projects.

This unbalancing of the free-market system distorts all the attributes and efficiencies of economics 101. To sit around and try to collect some of that free-flowing money might seem like a good idea from an opportunist's standpoint, but I would submit to you; it is no better than applying for food stamps when you don't really need them. In fact, it is promoting and jumping on board with environmentalists whose sole aim is to harvest the efficiencies of capitalism to promote their socialistic environmentalism. In other words, those entrepreneurs who involve themselves purely to collect money because the government is giving it away are doing a disservice to the future of free-market capitalism in the US.

Now then, some might say that I blowing this out of proportion, but I'm telling you what I see as I look through the strategic plans for new business startups. I'm talking from experience, and looking from a different perspective, probably one that you've never seen. Far too many people have joined on the environmentalism bandwagon, and even adopted global warming theory as a religion without really knowing the full facts behind it all. They then go overboard marching in step in this new eco-army and complain about the inefficiencies of capitalism, which that army has created due to the manipulations on the flow of resources, production, capital, money, and labor.

Therefore, I thought you should know and think about this. Of course, if you are worried about the environment or have taken global warming alarmists words as gospel, then you have taken a blind leap of faith, and probably don't want to hear it anyway. If you have accepted the environment as your new Savior, and all the crony capitalists and their politicians who are taking money from one industry sector and pumping it into another, than I would submit to you that your mind has been manipulated to the point that you don't get it, in that case; pearls to swine. Please consider all this and think on it.
