What Horse Supplies You Need to Take to A Show

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 149

There are many things you will need to take to a horse show including horse care items and their general tack. A horse show is a big event for horses and if you are travelling far then you will need to be fully equipped. In order to do this, you will need to pay close attention to your horse's general care needs and consider how many days you will be away when choosing the amount of horse care products you need.

A lot of the time when you are escorting your horse to another place to do a show, you will almost need to transfer their home and all the essentials along with them. In order to travel light there are some basics you will need to make sure your horse is fit and healthy throughout the shows.

Horse food is extremely important to take as you may not be able to find their specific type of food at an event. By providing them with their usual food they have a better chance of adapting to their surroundings when travelling. If you can, bring water from home as they are more likely to drink this and make sure you provide plenty of hay for them to munch on.

Along with the food, make sure you have bedding they are familiar with so they do not feel uneasy with their new surroundings. If there are stables provided, be sure to make them as homely as possible by bringing a hay net or flake bag.

It is a good idea to bring along their usual fly sheets or coolers. This is so that they are protected from unwanted extra heat or in case of a fly infestation which could be health damaging. Taking along a rain sheet is also important so they are protected from the typical unpredictability of British weather.

There are many supplies you will need to consider when taking them along to a show as you always want horses to look their best when under the eyes of judges. Take a sponge along with you in addition to a bucket of water for washing them down. With this, you should also be prepared with: a hoof pick; sweat scraper; some kind of towel; brushes; grooming spray and braiding thread or elastics. If you are equipped with such items, you have no problem with your horse looking fantastic.

Along with all of these supplies, make sure you have the necessary health care treatments that you need to use and a first aid kit. With this equipment you should be stocked up with the correct horse supplies to be on your way.
