Make Comfort and Flexibility A Priority When Choosing Equestrian Clothing

March 29, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 133

Part of being a good equestrian is being dressed for the occasion. While style is important, optimal comfort and flexibility is also imperative. If you are not able to move well or have the maximum range of motion, you may risk anything from discomfort to danger. When choosing equestrian clothing, you must find the clothes with the highest ratings. Also, make sure that you look smashing on the field. Whether you are riding for sport or for pleasure, you never know who will notice you.

Pants are the most important part of your equestrian outfit. If your pants are too tight around the waistband or around the thighs, you will not have a comfortable ride. While style is important, the fit is more pressing. Try on the pants and walk around in them a bit. Sit down with your legs over the chair, so you can simulate riding a horse. If it is not comfortable then, it will be worse when you ride.

With equestrian shirts, you need them to fit well in the shoulders and in the midsection. Your shoulders will be bent slightly forward, so you cannot have any tightness in the shirt. You want to be able to more your arms flexibly, reaching backwards and forwards with ease. If the shirts constrict your belly, no matter how well your pants fit, you will be highly uncomfortable. Equestrian jackets should have the same fit and not be too bulky in any place.

Equestrian clothing accessories are also important. You will need sunglasses with UV protection for bright weather, and sunscreen for your face and any other exposed body part. You will also need solid riding boots that are not too constrictive. They still need to be durable. Your socks should fit the length of your boots. Make sure you have gloves that will protect your hands while you ride.

If the weather is cold, make sure your apparel is adequately warm. There is special equestrian clothing designed for cold weather, so you do not have to suffer while you ride. Helmets are also important for your protection, as even the best rider can have an accident happen. You will also want to avoid chafing, so be sure that you have undergarments that can protect you from that.

Every piece of equestrian clothing in your wardrobe needs to be carefully selected and thought through. If you do not test it out before you go out on the horse, you will have a miserable ride. Remember that expensive equestrian clothing does not necessarily equal quality or comfort.
