Tapping in the Positive and Tapping Away the Negative

The implicit messages for me in the approaches to tapping in the "positive" or tapping away the "negative", is that there is something "bad" to be gotten rid of. We feel contaminated by the "bad" in some way and therefore there is an urgent need to get rid of it as quickly as possible. And then, there is something "good" somewhere out there in the ether, that isn't a part of us. There is instead, a desperate grasping for the good stuff, that deep down, we don't believe we can have, are a part of and deserve.

The issue I see with these approaches is that there is a fundamental belief that we are not innately good and that there is something innately wrong with us or that we are broken. We may feel broken, but it does not make it a fact or a truth. Seeing good as something external and something bad as internal are extremely powerful beliefs that we can tap on. The language we use is so telling, it is an accurate reflection of our beliefs and thoughts about who we are, and can guide us easily to what the core issues are.

Examine any limiting or conflicting beliefs you may have that do not serve you and use Emotional Freedom Techniques to dissolve them. State these beliefs out loud and rate the truth of how they feel from zero to ten. Ten being true and zero being false. You will find that you will have "evidence" so to speak for these beliefs feeling true for you and as you tap on the beliefs, memories may come up. You can also start with memories which can lead you to beliefs that you hold that you may not even be aware of. There are many doors in to finding core issues.
