Why Some Email Campaigns Win Customers Whilst Others Fail To Do So And How To Ensure Yours Succeed

Email marketing is far and away one of the most successful ways to attract educated, informed and motivated buyers to your website. One of the major advantages of email marketing is that once you have acquired your permission based list it is far and away one of the cheapest ways there is to advertising your business.

What then are the important rules to bear in mind when emailing your list of potential customers. First and foremost make you title engaging and interesting. Because the inbox of you customer will be filled on a daily basis by every type of email from spam to emails from friends to information they have actually requested, it is vital that your headline stands out. Therefore a headline along the lines of "Two very important things you need to be aware of" is much more effective than simply putting something like "More information about x" Secondly the main message of the email should be thought provoking. So a message that challenges accepted wisdom or fact such "people think that x happens when you do y, but statistics prove the opposite" is much more likely to engage your reader's attention than "The facts about x are "Thirdly, whenever you can tell a story. Stories are far better at getting a point across because they not only have a human element to them that helps people identify with the main message, but they are much more readable.

Another important point to bear in mind is the way you write the piece. By using short paragraphs (almost sound bites of information) you can keep the reader engaged. Few people like to read long paragraphs packed with information. Keep the message simple and straightforward. Lead the reader from point to point by following a sequence. In other words the first paragraph could end with a phrase such as "Some people think this is difficult but let me explain how you can..."Always remember that the reader is only interested in what is in it for them. Describe the benefits of your service or product. Use testimonials from satisfied customers or clients. Always, always include a clear call to action, even if this is just a simple step such as "click here to view a video about this topic.

Even simple steps such as this engage your customer's attention more, reinforces your sales message and builds up a feeling of reciprocity in that your potential customer or client feels an ever growing sense of obligation in terms of doing business with you.
