Getting the Most From Your Surround Sound System: A Discussion

April 22, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 220

So you did the math and it just doesn't add up that the tiles in the floor are so far apart and your speaker cord doesn't route around them. What to do? What to do? Well we like the ol' "Dremel© tool, hide the cord with caulking solution." Yes DIY'ers (Do It Yourselfer's) should you find yourself constructing a home theater, and you would like ideas on how to do it correctly, surround sound guru's are here to guide you. We recently had a "connoisseur" of our surround sound website ask us, "When routing our speaker cable under an audience but the ceiling isn't an option, what do I do about concealing the location of your speaker cords?" It seems that one might strategically think to make direct lines to their receiver(s) by scoring their tile and re caulking the tile.

We like this idea because you may need to think of another pattern to carve in your tiling in addition. What a great project. Make sure you get the perfect amount of length of speaker cable. Then, grab a gyrating tile cutting device like a Dremel© tool, you will need that. As you grab up some silicon caulking with your shopping list think of rags and safety goggles too then get back to where your fantastic project is taking place. Always remember it's a good idea to draw lines with a sharpie pointing straight to the receiver's location first, and then etch the line with your powered tile carver of choice. I say Dremel©, but you are perhaps a stone mason who uses another brand. Now, so as to get back on point, purchase only the exact amount of speaker cable you need. Then string the room vertically once for the scrap and slack. This now gets us on to step two if you will. Grab your sharpie and yardstick, or laser level, whichever you have handy. After which, a scoring of a straight line from your speaker to your receiver becomes necessary. Best to remember those without making detours are necessary at this point. Next, and this part is very important, be sure to give every connection a wire "detour" five inches from the end of your Dremel© cuts, so as to keep the wiring as straight as possible towards your receiver units and components. Now that we have this complete, we go forth with securing the cable gently with steel stapling "u-style" to the back board of the tiling. Keep in mind one can always drill guide holes for the stapling if you are grooving halfway through the tiling.

Moving right along, we think to ourselves, "well has there has been any pests that are lurking in my wonderful home or neighborhood?" The reason this article brings this up is because the new location you just etched in your tile could also hide your favorite pesticide, if it falls inside the notion of being compatible with the silicone you are using for this project or confirmed to not impede on the adhesion of the silicon. Now, moving right along, we come to enough slack of all wiring to reach components receivers, speakers, and media outlets, HDTV's and such. You may even wish to include a theater curtain apparatus to your home theater curtain idea. And since you have the materials necessary from your hardware and electronic stores, your thought out project is sure become a reality and you get a step closer to be known as a winner. This is the winning attitude we endorse on our site. It is relatively brand new on the web but is sure to be a sensation because it is designed for those that want to always get the job done perfectly. The tidying up part is now involving your striping ability. The ball is in your court to execute accurately when it comes to aiming your caulk gun in the right direction. Make sure to make a smooth one line bead to your devices from the speakers. The caulking should be dispensed in this direction because this too will be the direction that the sound waves will be traveling to your guest's ears. When designing surround sound it serves best to draw the sound toward the media so your viewing public will be caught in the crossfire of a distinctly aimed sound for their exact location. Surround Sound capabilities although limitless, perform best when your angles to their auditory canals are approached with diffraction in mind. Have you ever gotten next to a vehicle where the bass is all thump and the car body is all rattle? Well that type of scene rubs us the wrong way, chiefly because the musical spectrum isn't being properly distributed. It's not the music you listen to that grips our disapproval; it's the clarity that arrives in your auditory canals, and ultimately your biologic tympanic membrane that we consider. So now that your design is flawless and complete, it is time to invite guests over and enjoy the music. Great job on your tiling, surround sound project today.
