Pro Vs Domestic PAT Tester

November 11, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 152

If speaking in the strictest sense of the words, there are in fact no such things as “professional” PAT testers and those of a more simple or “domestic” nature – they either are or are not the products in question. However, this does not for one moment mean that the devices on the market today and the brands behind them are not of quite astonishingly different caliber when it comes to overall quality, functionality and durability – see http://www.pat-services.co.uk/pat-testers-14/seaward-pat-testers-4.html for countless examples. As such, when any given person or business is looking to invest in a new PAT tester or testing kit, it is essential for them to bear in mind exactly when it is to be used, where, how frequently and to what extent the area and those present may be at risk from its electrical devices.

Domestic / Basic PAT Testers

At the very bottom end of the scales comes the kid of testing kits that are designed to be used less frequently and are generally aimed at smaller businesses and domestic customers. It may seem as though a PAT kit for domestic used would be an unusual product, but DIY home improvement habits are growing in their ambition and abundance practically by the day – thousands therefore demanding their own PAT provisions to test domestic electrical safety. The bonus of investing in one of the cheap and easy to use kits is not only that of being able to ensure the safety of all coming into contact with any appliances present, but also being able to rule out the involvement of third-party services at greater cost. These are also the kinds of PAT testers that are ideal for smaller business and for those for which electrical testing contributes only a small part of their duties, as opposed to dedicated electrical installation specialists for example.

Professional PAT Testers

Right at the other end of the scale there are the kinds of Seaward Pat testers used in dedicated industry on a day in and day out basis, therefore require not only flawless functionality but also the kind of durability required to stand the test of time – not to mention the occasional drop. From report production to thermal imaging to the testing of much higher-voltage appliances, industrial-grade Seaward Pat tester kits are produced with the needs of the heavy-duty user in mind – examples of which can be found at www.pat-services.co.uk/pat-testers-14/seaward-pat-testers-4.html.  These more advanced kits will also allow for the carrying out of more extensive test so as to produce a far more detailed result than the standard “Pass” or “Fail” outcome.
