International Student Accommodation: Start Your Search Early

January 03, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 171

Demand for quality international education directly translates in increased demand for international accommodation for students. Since more and more students are enrolling themselves in international level institutions and world schools, they often have to go out of their home country or city to study. Though you may secure your admission into your favorite program and institute, it is not guaranteed that you will be provided student housing facility by your institute or university. As an international student you will be given preferential treatment for student accommodation, still you can never be sure to get student apartment of your choice in your favorite city as the demand for student accommodation is usually higher than what could be met easily.

One thing that you need to keep in mind is that you need to give equal importance to your search for international student accommodation as you give to your studies. The way you worked hard to secure your admission in your favorite college; you need to work aggressively the same way to secure your student apartment or student housing. If you do not start your search in good time, it may happen that you will run out of all good options and then will be left with no alternative but to stay in some residential area with no facilities for academic excellence.

Academic areas are in high demand

Ideally you should get your hostel or accommodation within the precincts of your university or college, still the second best option would be to get student housing in a well connected locality which is near to your college and has good facilities for academics like bus or train service to university and round the clock electric supply. Since such accommodations are in high demand, they usually come with a higher price tag. However, if you are not even able to get housing in such a colony, you still need not lose heart. You should first accept the accommodation which is being offered to you and then you may swap housing with your acquaintances or friends. This way, you will be able to get student housing in your choicest colony or city.

A good accommodation for students should have some basic facilities like:

• Cafeteria • Laundry • Internet connectivity • Telephone connection • Round the clock power back up • Study table with chair • Sleeping bed • Security• Open space for social gatherings • Parking facility

You can search for good accommodation online also as there are some websites that specialize only in providing housing solutions to international students. These websites have a vast database of student accommodations and you may even find roommates also to swap housing with you as these sites also maintain a large database of student profiles. Best part of using these websites is that you can easily find people of similar interests there with whom you can share your housing and ideas both. This way, you will be able to foster strong relationships with your roommates.
