Are There Fleas on Your Dog? Prevent Them at Home

The fleas are stealing the life of your dog in a silent way. They are nasty, six-legged parasites which can jump 10,000 times in a row and can leap from one to two feet. Therefore they can shift from one dog to another and get multiplied over there with the same speed. Their biting and sucking causes red spots and nuisance in the dog and it looks busy in scratching its skin most of the time. The fleas bite the skin, suck the blood of poor creature and move ahead leaving an itching and irritation in the dog. They have the capacity of consuming blood of dog 15 times more than their body size and ultimately cause anemia in the dog. If not attended, the fleas can kill your dog as they are extracting blood from its veins.

You can prevent these silent killers hidden in the hair of your dog by adopting some simple ways. The anti-fleas products in the market are good but their efficacy varies. And secondly, they can harm the skin of the dog as well because they comprise of chemicals which kill the fleas on the spot. But the home remedies are more effective to help the dog get rid of fleas. The following steps are simple to follow and more effective to treat the problem:

Comb the hair of dog

Hair on the skin of dog are the habitat of fleas and host their growth. If you comb the hair on regular basis, they can be taken out of the hair. The vertical teeth of the comb are suitable enough to drag all the fleas out. But be careful while combing. Do not not comb it in your room, on a carpet or at any other place where the children are playing. The fleas can be harmful when they hide themselves in the hidden places of your house.

Spray in your house

Spraying a good and effective insecticide in your home can help kill the fleas which have hidden themselves in the under places and are not seen with a bare eye. It will prevent the growth of all other insects as well.

Clean the shady places at home

The shady places are the hosting points of fleas and your dog can catch them while sitting there. They grow at a faster speed at moist and shadowy places. Clean such places at your home and check the growth of fleas.
