A Dog's Appetite

July 05, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 215

Owning a dog is a fabulous experience and the dog-human bond is a unique and very special attachment. If you have ever owned a dog and know how that bond works, you will also realise the importance of preventing illness and neglect. Keeping your pet content is the number one key to keeping it healthy.

Dog food comes in many different forms and the right type to give your dog may be dependent on all kinds of factors like bred type and size. The amount of exercise a dog gets is also crucial. For the best choice of dog food, look for a retailer who has an extensive collection of dog supplies.

However, it is important to understand that dogs have taste buds too so it is not going to help to buy something just because it looks fine without studying the product and the ingredients in better detail. It's about choosing the right dog food for your dog and not simply 'a dog'. He or she is a canine friend and needs unique care.

One type of dog, even within the same breed, will have a completely different appetite to another. Generally dietary needs in a dog are dependent on age, how much they weigh and how active they are. If you feel your dog needs a change of diet, however poor or wrong the existing diet may be, ensure you do this gradually. This will allow the dog's digestive system to cope and get used to the new food. Keep the diet well balanced with a good supply of necessary minerals and vitamins. A combination of meat, cereal and vegetables works well.

In order to stay fit and healthy a dog needs a well-balanced diet so make sure that you provide your canine friend with the correct dog food. That sad and longing look for more food just after it has eaten may look cute but dogs know how to get round your little finger more than children. If your friend becomes fat through over indulgence, you are not being kind. Health problems through over eating can be severe and lead to both digestive and joint problems.

Only when you take due care of your dog can you hope to build that very special relationship between you and it is worth all the effort. Your dog will return more than just a wagging tail, it will give love and loyalty and a warm and close friendship.
