Save Time by Shopping for Birthday Cakes Online

It's your daughter's birthday. She lives in New York City. You live in Washington DC. Of course it would be nice to be together so you could celebrate with a homemade cake, but sometimes that just isn't an option. So you decide to put together a care package of her favorite treats-bold coffee beans from your favorite local coffee shop, cookies from her favorite bakery, and maybe some gourmet chocolates from that sweet little shop in town.

Creating a homemade care package can be time-consuming. First, you have to figure out what items to include. Then you have to go about the task of visiting the various stores that sell the things you want. If you throw in some attractive wrapping paper, a thoughtful card and a trip to the post office, days could pass before the task is complete.

Alternatively, if you make a batch of your beloved devil's food cupcakes to send, would they make it through the mail? How would you wrap them? Would they arrive squished or stale? Even if you knew the secret behind how to ship them successfully, it might still entail nearly a full day of work.

Thanks to the Internet, there are a variety of online options for shipping cakes, cupcakes, flowers, gift baskets or care packages to your loved ones anywhere in the Unites States. Some national delivery services know what it takes to ship a cake, and how to ensure it arrives fresh and ready to eat. There are even ways to look find a local bakery in the city of your choice who can deliver a freshly baked cake right to your daughter's door. Additionally, the Internet gives you access to the websites of many local and national bakeries, allowing you to take a long, hard look at the product you're going to spend your hard-earned dollars on to send. Even if you're a gourmet snob, there are high-end options available that will meet your standards. When I sent my sister a cake for her birthday, not only did it arrive in tip-top shape-she also truly appreciated the gesture.

Plus, the whole process is a snap. It's no secret that pointing and clicking a mouse is far easier than making a personal trip to the store. Thanks to computers and the Internet, we all know that jobs that once took days or hours to complete can be done in a matter of minutes. So why not apply that principle to birthday cake shopping? Sending a cake is a wonderful way to recognize a birthday. It's even more exciting if you can find a bakery that will send or deliver a favorite flavor or other custom tweak. More and more businesses are focusing on the art of celebrating long-distance birthdays and other special occasions by offering delivery of cakes, cupcakes, and personalized care packages or gift baskets.

Next time you need to send something special to a loved one living far away, don't waste hours and days on the task. Look no further than your laptop and the perfect gift might just find you.
