When Debt Counselors Visit You on Sundays

April 17, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 148

If you feel that that a representative from the creditor is putting the pressure on you, you may have no other recourse but to simply accept this reality. You may wish to be left in peace but you should also understand that the creditor just wants to make sure that you keep your side of the bargain, which is to pay for the loans that you have acquired from them. However, there may be instances when you feel that that the debt counselor or collector has gone beyond the normal bounds. One of these, for example, is when he goes to your place on a Sunday and without any appointment.

Sunday is not just any other day of the week. The very reason why you love this day is that it is the only time of the week where you have the entire 24 hours to yourself. On weekdays, you are virtually bound by someone else's whims and rules for eight hours, which is already more than our half of your waking time. But on Sundays, you are your own boss. You could budget time for the family and time for your individual leisure. This is the reason why this may be the most anticipated day of the week.

However, when doorbell rings or when a knock is made on your door, things could turn sour. This is particularly true, if you find a debt counselor standing outside the moment you take a look through the peephole. Of course, you could not just turn your back leave him there standing outside. He would surely ring the doorbell again, annoying you even further. You would have no other choice but to entertain him. Let him go inside, allow him to say his piece while you just listen and say what he expects you to say, which is basically to promise that you are going to pay.

You may wish that there is some law that would hinder him from coming to your place on a Sunday without any appointment. However, there is really none. Apparently, the lawmakers, with their huge finances, may not have experienced what disturbance you may encounter on any given Sunday. Since there is absolutely no law that prohibits a debt counselor from visiting you on such day, you just have to be frank but civil enough to express your dislike for it. Of course, you cannot tell this to him while you are on the other side of the door. You have to let him in and talk to him about it.

The debt counselor would certainly tell you that he may not want to visit you on Sunday too. Just like any other employees, he also deserves a weekend break from work. However, if his management compels him to do so, he does not have any choice but to obey his superiors or run risk of losing his job. It is clear therefore that you may need to be patient with the debt counselor too. He is just doing his job.
