You Want to Look the Part? Know Where to Find the Part

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 191

Bontrager tops the list, It all began in a tiny garage in California. The man named Bontrager, with his motto of "strong first, light second", changed the world of bicycle racing forever. The typical racing bike at the time was built for speed, but could not always hold up to the stress put on the frames. Unfortunately, in the world of racing, if you ever want to have a chance at winning a race, you must first make it to the end of the race. If your equipment breaks down, you have zero chance. That is where Bontrager separates itself from the rest of the competition. The parts and equipment designed and built by Bontrager are light years ahead of the rest. They take their frames and other parts seriously and put their name on the line by building their products to last. Strength, before speed!

It may sound amazingly crazy, yet the entire line of products sporting the Bontrager name, actually began in, well, the garbage. While looking at a dumpster full of garbage one day in 1984, the man that started it all spotted a few old motorcycle rims lying in the heap. Thinking, as always about what use he could make of someone else's trash, Bontrager began to tear down and refabricate them. The result was the lightest, toughest, and largest bicycle rims ever produced. These rims just needed a frame to put them on. So now a frame was built. Out of a garbage dumpster in California in 1984, the Mountain Bike was born.Bontrager parts and accessories are built to last

Bontrager parts are not only groundbreaking, but reliable and unique. The clamp style fork crown that is attaching the suspension to the frame on almost every bike you see on the road or in a store, was designed, developed and patented by Keith Bontrager in 1986. They are used on nearly every bike on the market still to this day!

Even tires are better when you buy them from Bontrager. Before when racers lowered their tire pressure to improve handling, they would have to be very careful not to lower it too much, for too long, because of 'pinch-flats'. That's when the rim would pinch the inner tire's tube, causing it to puncture, or cut down. Bontrager had all the flats it would stand. Now the company produces a tire that combines the rim, with a low pressure, tubeless, tire. No more flats caused by air pressure being low.

Whether you want to race, have fun, or both. If you want parts that are built right, built to last and built by the best, Bontrager is the last name you need to ask for. Period!

Author Claire Andrews recommends choosing Bontrager products for those who enjoy cycling.
